If so, you may be a victim of unemployment identity fraud. To file a fraud report with NYS DOL, please visit our Report Unemployment Insurance Fraud page. * Minimum Wage: The state minimum wage increased on January 1, 2024 to $16.00 per hour for New York City and the counties of Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester, and to $15.00 per hour for the rest of the state. For more information about minimum wage, visit our Minimum Wage webpage * 1099-G Update: By the end of January, New Yorkers who received unemployment benefits in 2023 will receive a copy of their 1099-G in the mail. You will also soon be able to view and print your 1099-G tax form on our website by mid-January. For more information about the form, visit our 1099-G webpage. * Helping Connect Asylum Seekers to Employment Opportunities: Governo Hochul recently directed the NYSDOL to help connect asylum seekers to employment opportunities so they can begin working immediately after obtaining federal work authorization. In 2023, Governor Kathy Hochul tasked the New York State Department of Labor to create the Protect Youth Workers Pledge for employers as a part of a broader initiative to protect youth workers within the state.
