WE’VE UPDATED OUR TERMS OF SERVICE AND PRIVACY POLICY

Every day we work hard to improve your experience on ResearchGate. As part of
this ongoing effort, we’ve updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The
new Terms of Service will take effect on April 1, 2024. The updated Privacy
Policy is already in effect. 


WHAT’S CHANGED? 

While the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy remain legal documents, we’ve done
our best to make them easier to navigate and understand. We’ve also updated them
to reflect some recent changes to our services and the legal landscape. 

Here are some of the most important changes at a glance: 

TERMS OF SERVICE

 * We give you more details on what you can share on ResearchGate (Section 4:
   Your conduct) and clarify what permissions you give us when you do (Section
   3.2: Your content).
 * We explain how infringement of our guidelines and policies could affect you,
   and how our Strikes and Appeals Policies work (Section 5: Community
   Guidelines and Strikes Policy).
 * We make it clear how we may change the terms in the future (Section 7.2:
   Changes to these Terms).
 * We clarify when we can close your account (Section 6: Termination of this
   agreement).

PRIVACY POLICY

 * We explain how we show you relevant sponsored content, and outline your
   choices for receiving it (Section 6: Sponsored content on ResearchGate).
 * We updated the list of service providers we use (Section 7: Service
   providers).
 * We added information about your privacy rights if you live in the United
   States (Section 14: US-specific information).
 * We added details about how we use your data to personalize your experience
   and recommend relevant content and people (Section 3.2: Personalize your
   experience).

Please note: You can control many aspects of your privacy on ResearchGate from
your Privacy Settings. 


WHAT’S NEXT?

If you agree with the changes to the Terms of Service, you don’t need to do
anything. 

If you don’t agree, you need to delete your account before the changes take
effect on April 1, 2024. Alternatively, you can let us know that you object to
the changes before this date. If you do, please keep in mind that we may end the
contractual relationship with you and delete your account.
