OVERDOSE EPIDEMIC | AGING TOGETHER| STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

Thanks to special funding set aside in the state budget, public media stations
in New York have come together to raise awareness about specific issues that
impact our communities throughout the state. People can access thousands of
hours of content through broadcast or on-demand content that provides resources
and information about the opioid and overdose epidemic, aging and senior
isolation, and student mental health.

Buffalo Toronto Public Media is raising awareness of the opioid epidemic through
special reports and programs. This special collaborative effort examines New
York State’s addiction and overdose crisis. Overdose Epidemic programming draws
attention to this public health crisis and raises awareness of services
available in local communities for those impacted by addiction.

Toronto Public Media is proud to collaborate with public media stations across
New York state on a multi-platform project addressing social isolation among
older adults through news coverage, shared personal stories, modeling healthy
relationships, building community, and providing resources for seniors that
reduce isolation and build resiliency.

Student Mental Health Matters touches on topics as wide-ranging as adverse
childhood experiences, stress and self harm, suicide prevention, and the role of
social media.  Student Mental Health Matters brings together public media across
the state to focus on a single issue across multiple platforms—broadcast
television, radio, educator resources on PBS LearningMedia, online streaming,
social media, live events, and more.
