🌐 Beyond CR: This Week's Global News Item of Note 🌐

 

The BIS has relinquished its role in Project mBridge, the multi-jurisdiction
cross-border CBDC collaboration between the Hong Kong Monetary Authority,
Central Bank of the UAE, Bank of Thailand, and the Digital Currency Research
Institute of the People's Bank of China.

 * Despite speculation, BIS says political considerations not behind decision
 * mBridge reached "Minimum Viable Product Stage" in June 2024
 * Saudi Central Bank joined the project in June 2024; many other central banks
   are observers
