Sponsors: Supporting Partners: Background Deployment of zero-emission buses has gained significant momentum in the UK in the past few years. A fleet of 4,000 zero-emission buses is planned to be deployed in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland by the end of 2024. To drive this transition, the UK government has launched several policy and funding initiatives including the National Bus Strategy, the ZEBRA scheme and the Scottish Zero Emission Bus Challenge Fund (ScotZEB). It has also proposed to end the sale of all combustion engine buses and minibuses between 2025 and 2032. The aim is to achieve net-zero by 2050, promote sustainable mobility and create green jobs. Targets and goals to decarbonise local bus fleets have also been set by public transport authorities, bus service operators, local authorities (including county, unitary authorities and combined authorities) and regional transport authorities. Transport for London aims to have a fully-electric bus fleet by 2034. Coventry plans to transition to an all-electric fleet by 2025. Private bus operators including Arriva, FirstGroup, Go Ahead, National Express and Stagecoach have also unveiled plans and strategies to buy only ultra-low buses or ZEBs from 2025 onwards. These initiatives and plans have created significant demand for scaling up existing infrastructure of OEMs and infrastructure providers as well as for new technologies, solutions and tools for charging/fuelling infrastructure, digitalisation, AI, data analysis, workforce management, fleet maintenance, and so on. That said, the successful transition requires a commitment towards long-term funding, easy access to this funding, clear and consistent national policy, a long-term revenue assurance scheme, a significant increase in ridership, and the provision of more high-speed electrical connections to provide charging infrastructure, particularly in rural areas. Aside from directly funding the procurement of ZEBs and associated infrastructure, revenue-raising schemes introduced by local authorities will also encourage the shift to public transport and help fund decarbonisation efforts. Given the opportunities, Global Mass Transit is organising its second conference on ‘Clean Buses UK’ on September 12, 2023 at Park Plaza London Riverbank. Mission The mission of the conference is to discuss the UK government’s plan, programmes and funding to transition to a zero-emission bus (ZEB) fleet, the way forward for local authorities, public transport authorities (PTAs) and public transport operators (PTOs), best practices in transitioning to a ZEB fleet, experience so far and the lessons learned. It will cover plans and opportunities for deployment of electric and hydrogen-fuelled buses and related infrastructure. The conference will also showcase new technologies, tools and solutions. The conference will bring together local authorities (including county, unitary authorities and combined authorities), public transport authorities, bus service operators, OEMs, suppliers of bus components, technology providers, energy providers, charging solution suppliers and battery manufacturers, hydrogen-fueling infrastructure providers, funding agencies, consultants, researchers, and academicians. The one-day conference will have eight sessions, panel discussions and case studies, with a wide array of experts providing valuable insights and actionable advice. The agenda will cover the UK government programmes and funding as well as plans of cities, PTAs and PTOs to deploy clean fuel buses in the UK. It will also highlight offerings of leading manufacturers and suppliers as well as the latest technological developments and solutions to improve the customer experience. There will be a dedicated session on the experiences of leading PTAs and PTOs in the deployment of ZEBs. This will provide an opportunity to learn how to deploy ZEBs and charging/fueling infrastructure, mobilise funding, and manage stakeholder expectations. Key issues to be discussed * Role of zero-emission buses in the journey to net-zero in the UK * UK Government policies and funding for promoting ZEBs * Transitioning to ZEBs: Strategies, policies, case studies, experience so far and best practices * Plans of local authorities and bus service operators for the deployment of clean buses, ZEBs * Progress in the deployment of zero-emission buses * Strategies to improve ridership * Operator investments and making a business case for ZEB deployment * Total cost of ownership of zero-emission buses * Best practices in the deployment of electric buses and hydrogen-fuelled buses * Electric bus charging infrastructure: Innovations, new technologies and infrastructure for large-scale fleets * Hydrogen refuelling stations and infrastructure * Challenges of grid capacity * OEM perspective on hydrogen: Launching new technologies, reducing costs, improving efficiency and commercialising hydrogen * Scaling up OEM infrastructure and building supply chains * Planning for, scheduling of and monitoring ZEBs, fleet management * Clean buses for long-distance operations * Autonomous and electric bus trials * Opportunity for digitalisation * Sourcing green energy * Integration of zero-emission fleet with new mobility (MaaS and AVs) DAYS TO GO * 55 Days * 2 Hours * 59 Minutes * 36 Seconds When & Where September 12, 2023 Park Plaza London Riverbank Planner Details Contact Us REGISTER Already registered?
