FAQS

 * What is PayNow?
   
   PayNow is a new service that enables customers of participating banks to send
   and receive funds almost instantly from one account to another, within the
   same bank or to other banks using just their mobile number and/or Singapore
   National Registration Identification Card number (“NRIC”).

 * How can I access the PayNow service?
   
   You can access PayNow using the Standard Chartered Mobile Banking app or
   Online Banking.

 * How long will it take to register for PayNow? How will I know if my PayNow
   registration has been successful?
   
   Your PayNow registration can be done almost instantly via our Standard
   Chartered Mobile Banking app or Online Banking. You will see a notification
   on the screen confirming successful registration. You will also receive an
   SMS alert on your mobile phone upon successful registration.

 * How many accounts can I link my mobile number and/or NRIC to for receiving
   funds via PayNow?
   
   You can link your mobile number or NRIC to only one of your Standard
   Chartered current or savings accounts to receive funds via PayNow. However,
   each account that you have can be linked to more than one mobile number or
   NRIC. For example, if you have a joint account, both you and your joint
   account holder can link your respective mobile numbers and NRIC to the joint
   account.

 * I’m a foreigner so I don’t have an NRIC. Can I use my FIN or passport number
   to register for PayNow?
   
   Foreigners (non SG citizen/PR) can only register your mobile number for
   PayNow with Standard Chartered. We do not support FIN/Passport number
   registration at this moment.

 * Can I register an international mobile number to register for PayNow?
   
   Yes, you can register an international mobile number for PayNow, as long as
   that mobile number is registered as your primary mobile number in the Bank
   records. For more details, please call our client care centre at 18007477000.

 * I have registered both my NRIC and mobile number for PayNow. If I delete my
   NRIC registration for PayNow, will my mobile number registration be deleted
   as well?
   
   If you delete any one registration type, only the linkage of the account to
   that particular registration type will be deleted and you will no longer be
   able to receive funds via PayNow into the account linked with that
   registration type. Your other registration will however remain unaffected.

 * Can I change the account that I linked to my mobile number or NRIC number?
   
   Yes, you can change your linked account at any time through our Standard
   Chartered Mobile Banking app or Online Banking.

 * I had registered to use my NRIC to link to my account to receive funds via
   PayNow. Can I later register to also use my mobile number to link to my
   account?
   
   Yes, you can. Please note that you can only use your mobile phone number
   registered in the Bank records. If you wish to use a different mobile number,
   you must inform the Bank first to get your mobile number updated in the Bank
   records.

 * I was asked to create a display name during my registration to use PayNow.
   What is this for?
   
   Your display name will be used by the payer to identify you when transferring
   funds to you via PayNow. By default, your display name will be your full name
   that we have on file for you.

 * Can I change my display name after I complete my registration?
   
   Yes, you can do so through our Standard Chartered Mobile Banking app or
   Online Banking.

 * What happens if I change my mobile number after linking it to my account?
   
   You must contact the bank first to inform about the change to your mobile
   number. The bank will proceed to update our records with your new mobile
   number. After your new mobile number is updated in our records, the link
   between your old mobile number and your account will be automatically
   deleted. To use the new mobile number for PayNow, you will have to register
   again by linking the new mobile number to your account.

 * Will my FAST registered payees automatically become my registered payees for
   PayNow?
   
   No. Your registered payees for FAST will not by default become your
   registered payees for PayNow. Conversely, your registered payees for PayNow
   will not automatically become one of your registered payees for FAST.

 * Do I need to add a payee before making a transfer via PayNow or can I perform
   ad-hoc transfers? Is there a transfer limit?
   
   With PayNow, you can make a one-time transfer to a recipient‘s registered
   mobile number/NRIC. You do not need to add the recipient as a payee. The
   total daily limit of all your one-time PayNow transfers is SGD 1,000. You
   will need to add the recipient as a payee if you wish to transfer a higher
   amount.

 * Will my PayNow transfers appear on my account statements and if so, how will
   they appear?
   
   All your PayNow transfers will be recorded in your account statements and the
   transaction description will contain the recipient’s mobile phone number or
   NRIC (depending on which one was used by you for the transfer).

 * If I register for PayNow and use it to transfer or receive funds, will the
   other party know my bank account details?
   
   PayNow is not intended to conceal your bank account details from the party
   that you are transferring funds to or receiving funds from. Therefore, if you
   use PayNow to transfer or receive funds, the other party may still know your
   bank account details.

 * Will I be charged any fees for using PayNow?
   
   Presently, the bank is not charging any fees for customers using PayNow. If
   the bank intends to charge any fees, advance notice will be given to
   customers.

 * Can I use PayNow to transfer funds to an overseas bank account?
   
   No. PayNow can only be used for SGD funds transfers between the nine
   participating banks namely Bank of China, Citibank Singapore Limited, DBS
   Bank/POSB, HSBC, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Maybank,
   OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and UOB.

 * Can I set up future-dated transfers or recurring transfers via PayNow?
   
   Future-dated transfers and recurring transfers are not supported via PayNow
   currently.

 * I have linked my account with another bank to my mobile number (or NRIC) to
   receive funds via PayNow. Can I link the same mobile number to my account
   with Standard Chartered?
   
   Yes, you can. However, before you do so, you must first delete the existing
   link between your mobile number (or NRIC) and your account with the other
   bank.

 * What is the daily limit for one-time PayNow transfers?
   
   The total maximum daily transfer limit for all One-Time PayNow Transfers and
   PayNow QR Transactions (calculated on a cumulative basis) is S$1,000.00. For
   One-Time PayNow Transfers, if you wish to transfer an amount higher than
   S$1,000.00 within the same day, you may do so up to a maximum cumulative
   amount of S$10,000.00 by entering an additional PIN / password.
   
   For the avoidance of doubt, where you make PayNow Transfer(s) using a
   Third-Party Platform, such PayNow Transfer(s) will also be subject to the
   same total maximum daily transfer limit (calculated on a cumulative basis) of
   S$1,000 as referred to above. As an example, if you have already made a
   One-Time PayNow Transfer of S$600 using the Bank’s mobile app, you will only
   be allowed to make a PayNow Transfer of a maximum amount of S$400 using a
   Third-Party Platform on the same day.

 * I received communication from Ministry of Education (MOE) requesting to link
   my child’s bank account to PayNow using the child’s Singapore BC / NRIC. How
   do I proceed with this?
   
   We understand that MOE has communicated to parents regarding this facility,
   however we regret to inform you that this functionality is not available to
   clients yet. We have clarified the same with MOE, and you may contact them
   for further updates. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
