RUNGWAY RELEASES

A look back through our major feature releases
Written by Tom Warren
Updated over a week ago

27 November 2020

šŸ—‚ THAT'S A WHOLE NEW TOPIC

The feed is the life and soul of Rungway and its bursting with great advice and
experiences. Previously the majority of the content has been accessible via the
original discussion which meant some of the advice was staying below the
surface. Then, earlier in the year we released a new feed filter to allow you to
customise what you see in the feed and that was the start of a bigger feature
we've been working on.

From today you can browse Rungway in two new ways, using topics or tags. And by
combining this with search and filters it means, in just a few clicks, you can
see posts about the subjects that are most relevant to you.

Topics group posts with similar subjects, like: "Business", "Health" or
"Culture".

Tags directly link posts that are about the detail of the subject matter, that
may be more of the moment, like: "Mental Health", "Furlough" or "Covid".

Next time you post, you can add an optional 3 topics and, or 10 tags to control
where others find it. It means you can increase the likelihood of your post
being seen by the right person.

All this is available on web and remember to download, or update the Rungway app
on iOS or Android to get it on your mobile.

šŸ‘‰šŸ» Read more about Topics and Tags ā†’ with some more detail on how to use it.

As always, if you have any product suggestions for us or just want to leave us
some feedback you can via email help@rungway.com or via Intercom. Happy browsing

šŸš€ TO INFINITY AND RESPOND

We're back with some great improvements to the browsing experience on Rungway.
Youā€™ve probably already noticed but your feed is looking a little fuller today
and that's because weā€™ve added a filter to control what you see in your feed.

The aim of Rungway is to surface and share the ā€˜wisdom of the crowdā€™ and that
means encouraging those people with relevant experiences and advice to jump in
and offer it when and where it's needed - the right advice at the right time.
Showing a feed of discussions (and pulses) obviously gets you to see all the
requests that are live, but it means you miss some of the great advice that's
been shared already.

So, by allowing responses more visibility in the feed, it's a great way to show
off the powerful conversations that are currently happening under the surface.

When you see a Response card, there are few new elements to be aware of:

 * The original discussion is referred to at the top

 * Hit ā€˜Read full discussionā€™ to dive in and read all the other responses.

 * Add a public comment directly to that response using the ā€˜Add a commentā€™
input or view all the other comments

 * Anonymously ā€˜Likeā€™ the response

While you discover all the unseen content on Rungway weā€™re busy working on
something big to take the feed even further... Topics! Watch this space.

This is a pretty big change to your normal browsing experience so we understand
it's going to take some getting used to but as always, if you have any feedback
or product suggestions for us you can via email help@rungway.com or via
Intercom.

šŸ•ø PULSES: INTO THE MULTI-VERSE

In our latest update to Pulses, we've saved the best until last. Pulse creators
can now add up to ten questions to a Pulse along with using all the previous
updates like 'Tell Us More' and 'Free Text' question types.

In fact, there's more. This release also includes the ability to preview your
questions before you publish just so you can make sure you're happy with how the
questions flow for the participants. Plus, look out for the new way to download
your results in a .csv format from your results page.

With these new features combined, Pulses is a really powerful tool to understand
the sentiment of your workforce in the moment:

Use a Single Question Pulse to quickly find out how your employees felt about a
recent discussion topic on Rungway

Use a Tell Us More question to give your workforce a way to elaborate on a list
of multiple choice options or give their own option like suggestions for what to
include in the next company all-hands meeting

Use a Free Text question to let people anonymously share their experiences about
how they're feeling about their new remote working environment

Use a Multiple Question Pulse to ask a range of questions with a regular cadence
throughout the year using all the different question types to keep track of how
your organisation's sentiment tracks over time.

Read more about using Pulses and everything it has to offer.

If you donā€™t have Pulses enabled on your Rungway, contact us here

šŸ¤— THE JOY OF 'FREE' TEXT

Yet another great addition to our Pulses. Now Pulse creators can build a new
question type which allows participants to give a full free text answer.Ā

This gives even more freedom over the types of question Pulse creators can ask
and perhaps more importantly the sorts of answers participants can give.

Please log in and create a Pulse today and let us know what you think of ā€˜Free
textā€™. As always, if you have any product suggestions for us or just want to
leave us some feedback you can via email help@rungway.com or via Intercom.

āœšŸ» TELL ME MORE, TELL ME MORE. LIKE IS IT ANONYMOUS?

From today youā€™ll see a new option when starting your next Pulse. Now you can
offer your participants the option to add more details to the multiple choice
answer they submit in your Pulse. We call this ā€˜Tell us moreā€™ and we think this
adds a whole new dimension to your Rungway because, for the first time,
participants can offer free text responses while remaining totally anonymous. It
also enables you to expand on the sorts of questions you can ask and the answers
you receive because your participants can offer their own opinions on top of the
preset options you give them.Ā

For the last few months weā€™ve been working hard to make our Pulse feature even
better and thereā€™s lots more to come in the next few weeks so look out for more
updates soon.Ā

For now, please log in and create a Pulse today and let us know what you think
of ā€˜Tell us moreā€™. As always, if you have any product suggestions for us or just
want to leave us some feedback you can via email help@rungway.com or via
Intercom.

šŸ“Š A POLL NEW WORLD

Our mission has always been to build a safe community within your organisation
where it doesn't matter what your demographic, role or location is, you can
speak up and be heard. We did this by creating a mechanism for an individuaI to
ask a question or spark a discussion with the safety of anonymity and by
allowing anyone to participate named, to maintain a level of accountability that
the advice is coming from a trusted source.

Now, thatā€™s one way of connecting people inside a safe and trustworthy community
but we think we can do even more! Weā€™ve been working closely with our customers
and users to create more ways to share advice, opinions and experiences with the
safety of anonymity. And today we can tell you about one of those ideas...

Pulses on Rungway!

We are super excited to be embarking on a brand new product journey making
Pulses available on your Rungway.Ā

The first version of Pulses on Rungway will consist of one single or multiple
choice question. Your organisation can use it to quickly gauge the opinion of
the Rungway with a focus on ā€˜in the momentā€™ topics which really matter. Allowing
you to offer anonymous responses gives you the opportunity to have a direct
impact on the results because the element of hierarchy and bias has been
removed.

If your Rungway has it enabled, when a Pulse is created youā€™ll get notified
about it in your feed or youā€™ll receive it directly via email and once youā€™ve
submitted your answer anonymously youā€™ll see the results in real-time (if the
creator has decided to share the results publicly).

15 OCTOBER 2019

šŸ•µšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø HELLO... IS IT SEARCH YOUā€™RE LOOKING FOR?

Thank you Rahel, Danielle, Diana, Amy, Angela, Jeremy, Jane, David, Roberto and
the many many others who have suggested a Search function for Rungway. Iā€™m sure
even if you havenā€™t asked for it youā€™ve been thinking about how much it could
improve your Rungway experience.Ā

As you may have noticed over the last few months we have been working hard to
improve the Rungway app by adding features like Reactions, Likes, and Notify Me
all with the aim of giving you more ways to join in and offer feedback to your
colleagues. But, if you havenā€™t logged on for a while or you donā€™t know if a
discussion about a certain topic has already been posted thereā€™s no quick way to
find those posts to get involved in the first place.

But not anymoreā€¦

Now, you can search for a keyword, phrase or even a person. šŸ„³

After youā€™ve entered your search, we will show you results (separated into
Discussions, Responses and Comments) containing snippets of text where your
search term appears in context along with when it was posted and who posted it.
Tapping on the card will take you directly to where the post is located in the
thread.Ā

Now, this is the first version of search so we know thereā€™ll be some
improvements and tweaks to be made along the way, but we think this is a great
first step in a longer journey for us to make the browsing experience on Rungway
much easier and more useful for everyone.

We are working on even more improvements:

 * Sort posts and results by date and popularity

 * Keep track of your old searches with a search history list

 * Get notified on new posts which match your search criteria

šŸ‘‰šŸ» Read our help article about search.

šŸš€ Mobile search is coming very soon so look out for the latest mobile update on
the App Store or Play Store.Ā

We hope you enjoy using search to discover even more about active discussions
happening around your organisation all the time. As always, if you have any
product suggestions for us or just want to leave us some feedback you can via
email help@rungway.com or via Intercom. Happy searching šŸ•µšŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

29 JULY 2019

THAT'S THE WAY, UH HUH, UH HUH, WE šŸ‘šŸ¼ IT. (ANONYMOUSLY)

After allowing you to react to discussions in our last big release we now offer
the option to do the same for responses and comments. When we analysed these
types of posts the majority of the time we see solutions, ideas, personal
experiences or tried and tested methods in reply to our anonymous seekers. We
decided that ā€˜Likeā€™ fits the sentiment to let the poster know that their effort
was appreciated by the rest of the Rungway. As with discussion reactions these
will be anonymous and youā€™ll be able to review how many likes you are getting on
your posts, but not who likes them.

We hope youā€™ll enjoy using likes to express your gratitude and let others know
which pieces of advice are really landing with the community.

šŸ‘‰šŸ» Read our help article about how to like anonymously.

As with everything we build at Rungway, we listen to your feedback closely so
please contact us with your thoughts.

24 JUNE 2019

šŸ’”āœ…šŸ‘¤šŸ“£ EXPRESS YOURSELF!

It's the content on Rungway that really sets it apart from other platforms. The
full and frank discussions that you start anonymously are unique, as are the
personal stories and experiences that get shared in response. Sometimes when you
haven't quite got the words to post a reply you just want to add your thoughts
in the form of a reaction.Ā

Previously we used the ā€˜Likeā€™ concept for discussions (ā€œquestionsā€ in old
Rungway money), but because of the nature of the topics that arise on Rungway a
lot of the time ā€˜Likeā€™ isnā€™t the right sentiment at all. What if youā€™re reading
about someoneā€™s struggle along their career path, or a new parent getting to
grips with their new responsibilities. We needed to create new reactions that
could represent a broader range of feelings that work across multiple levels of
emotion.Ā

So weā€™ve introduced a new group of reactions which will give you the opportunity
to (completely anonymously) express a more honest representation of your
feelings when you read your next discussion.Ā

You can use ā€™Great Ideaā€™ to celebrate ingenuity or a creative suggestion, or
ā€˜Agreeā€™ to show your backing for a much needed change in policy. Thereā€™s ā€˜I
support youā€™ for those moments when you want to reach out to the member behind
the post when their story has had a real impact on you. Or, finally, ā€˜Importantā€™
lets you show the rest of the organisation that this really needs looking into
as an urgent matter.Ā

Not only do these reactions help you express your feeling as a reader, but as
the creator of the discussion you also get a better understanding of the impact
your post is having on everyone else.

We hope youā€™ll enjoy using our new reactions to express yourselves and create
more meaningful moments for everyone in your Rungway community.

šŸ‘‰šŸ» Read our help article about how to react anonymously.

As with everything we build at Rungway, we listen to your feedback closely so
please contact us with your thoughts.

šŸ”” GOODBYE TO RUNGWAY #FOMO

Some discussions on Rungway catch your eye but perhaps at the time you arenā€™t
ready to respond, or you want to wait and see what other people add to the
conversation. Weā€™ve created a new way for you to stay informed when thereā€™s
activity on the discussions you care about while youā€™re not on Rungway.

Now you can choose to receive notifications for particular discussions. This
means when a new response arrives weā€™ll notify you straight away, so youā€™ll
never miss anything. And when you want to stop receiving updates you simply mute
from the last notification.Ā

We hope this will not only help to keep you informed on the latest posts on the
discussions youā€™re interested but also to give you more chance to jump in and
get your voice heard.

šŸ‘‰šŸ» Read our help article about how to turn discussion notifications on

As with everything we build at Rungway, we listen to your feedback closely so

šŸ¦† THE GREAT MIGRATION

Last year was pivotal for Rungway, quite literally. When we started in 2016 we
set out to create an open community to connect people from all over the world to
give and get help with the safety of anonymity. Out of that community we started
getting requests from individuals to open up private groups to use inside their
companies, and a new opportunity was born.Ā

We began talking to companies to try and gauge their needs from an anonymous
advice platform to help them understand their company culture better. Then at
the start of 2018 began building and testing a whole new version of Rungway.

Rungway v2, which we've been calling it, now focuses on helping companies become
more inclusive and employees to be able to ask any question they need to and
benefit from all the experience of their peers.Ā

Which leads us to early 2019 when we are embarking on a great migration to
ensure all the companies that joined us on the v1 journey are safely moved
across to enjoy what v2 will have to offer as we work together to bring them
even more great features. It's been a fantastic effort from our team to get us
here and we are so excited to welcome our current members onto v2, who we also
need to thank. Without your continued support of Rungway we wouldn't be in this
position, we're so glad to have you with us!Ā

So, enough of the X Factor backstory! what does v2 have to offer?
