SWISS SURFING CHAMPIONSHIP

The Swiss Surfing Championship (SSC) is the official national competition in
surfing. It is also a get-together of the Swiss Surfing scene and all its
members who follow the passion for surfing in and outside of Switzerland. It is
held annually by the sea where surfers from all levels can compete.

EDELWEISS SURF TOUR

Five tour stops, three disciplines, one Swiss champion in each discipline and
one overall winner – this is the new Edelweiss Surf Tour 2022 !
This new tour is one of kind: it combines the uniqueness and variety of Swiss
Surfing with the goal to connect surfers of all kinds and regions.

ABOUT SWISS SURFING

The Swiss Surfing Association (SSA), founded in 1992, represents the sport of
surfing in Switzerland on a national and international level.

Every year, the best surfers compete at the Swiss Surfing Championships held in
Spain. This event is not only intended for competitive surfers but also brings
together the Swiss surfing community. The Swiss Surfing Champions (male, female)
and some of the best Swiss surfers form the Swiss Surfing Team which represents
Switzerland at international surfing competitions such as the ISA World Surfing
Games and the ISA World Junior Surfing Games.

Here are some common questions about Swiss Surfing Association


I AM OPERATING A SURF CAMP - HOW DO I COLLABORATE WITH THE SSA (OFFER
SSA-MEMBERS A DISCOUNT, GET A LINK ON THE SSA HOMEPAGE...)?

First of all, thank you for your interest in working with the SSA! Since
recommending a surf camp to our members (providing a discount indirectly implies
a recommendation) would require us to check the surf camp in many aspects
(quality, price, location, staff, level of surf coaching…), the SSA board
decided in 2014 not to directly work with individual surf camps. This allows us
to focus our resources on our core tasks. We do, however, collaborate with the
Swiss surf-travel company suddenrush.com who have been in the business for many
years and are a major and well-trusted player in the Swiss market. Please
contact them directly via info@suddenrush.com with your request.


WHERE CAN I GO SURFING IN SWITZERLAND?

There are actually several possibilities to go Surfing in Switzerland. One time
a year, the SSA is hosting the Swiss Wavepool Championship on an artificial
wave. Furthermore, you can go Surfing on many river waves in Switzerland. Last
but not least there are several ongoing projects with the aim to build standing
riverwaves and/or wavegardens in Switzerland within the next years. Here you can
find the Swiss Surfing Spots. We will be happy to answer all your questions if
you want to have more information about these events and surfing possibilities
in Switzerland.


DOES THE SSA HOST EVENTS IN SWITZERLAND? WHEN'S THE NEXT ONE?

Yes, the SSA is hosting the Swiss Wavepool Championship once a year. Further
information about events can be found on our website: www.waveriding.ch/events


HOW CAN I JOIN THE SSA? WHAT WILL I GET AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER?

Possibilities to join the SSA

 * Join the SSA directly as an active member with the right to participate at
   all our events
 * Join one of the local associations (such as: WaveUp, Flusswelle Luzern,
   Flusswelle Bern, Surfers Solothurn, Association Romande de Surf, etc.) and
   upgrade your local membership on a national basis so you will automatically
   be an active member of the SSA for a discounted fee.
 * IMPORTANT: As a member of a local (Swiss/Surf related) association you will
   automatically be registered as Basic Member of Swiss Surfing*

 * You can participate actively in the Association with your vote at the annual
   general assembly.
 * You can participate at the Swiss Surfing Championship or/and at the Swiss
   Wavepool Championship (subject to rules of competition) and other special
   events of the SSA

Everybody has a chance. But the competition is not just the main focus of the
event. Meeting people and having a good time is part of the competition as well.
No matter your level of surfing, come over and enjoy a wonderful week surfing

There are currently 7 active members in the executive board and arround 15
members in the head office. We are always looking for motivated and talented
