won’t spend too much time exploring worlds though, as the game wants to quickly
shepherd you towards the various qualifying rounds on each course. How enjoyable
that is depends on personal preference, but I certainly made the most of an
afternoon taking turns with my partner to see who could look the daftest while
playing with them. Meanwhile, motion controls are what you expect - swing your
arms like it’s 2007 and you’re trying out Wii Sport for the first time.

While it’s not quite as simple as that suggests - a red gauge next to your power
meter indicates how far a ball can curve unexpectedly if you put too much power
on a shot - but it doesn’t quite capture the rhythmical compulsion of
Everybody’s Golf, that sense of timing and strategy coming together. Your button
controls offer more command over where your ball goes, as you set power on a
meter with a tap of A and add sidespin afterwards by nudging the left stick.
Depending on which mode you’re playing, you’ll have a choice between traditional
button controls or the arm-flinging of motion controls. This identity crisis

Haslett is credited with creating a gas mask that resembles today’s respirators.
Centuries later, in the late 1700s, Alexander von Humboldt, a Prussian mining
engineer, invented the first device with a respirator to help protect miners
working and breathing in unsafe mines. In ninth century Persia, the Banu Musa
brothers developed a rudimentary gas mask to help protect workers in polluted
wells. In ancient Greece, sponges were used as a primitive type of gas mask.
While you might think this crude, beaked mask was the first example of people
using a tool or device to filter the air they breathe, there are earlier
examples. In the beak area of the mask, dried flowers, spices and other aromatic
substances were added to help filter what the plague doctors were breathing in.
These medics from yesteryear wore prominent birdlike masks to ward off “bad
air,” which was thought to be a cause of the plague. In our first installment of
“Hazmat through history” back in The Glow Worm Spring 2016 issue, we took a look
at plague doctors during the bubonic plague of the 17th century.

Do it right it is better to be safe than sorry. What experience has taught me,
and these site assessments have confirmed, is that there are no small jobs as
far as safety is concerned. Safety gear can be time consuming to get on and a
bit of a pain in the rear, and as a result, we can be tempted from time to time
by the old, “Oh, it’ll just take a second” type of jobs to not get fully geared
up. Yes, even at the two sites where “there’s nothing there,” we found asbestos.
Well, wouldn’t you know it…when we got the lab results back, over a quarter of
the samples came back with chrysotile asbestos (some as high as 80 percent) and
a few additional samples came back with wollastonite (a silicate industrial
mineral used as an asbestos replacement that often contains fine quartz).

We got our samples, made sure to handle everything as if it contained asbestos
and got our gear cleaned up properly after the job. However, industrial sites
can have a pretty high potential for asbestos, so if we’re going to be carving
out samples, it’s better to be safe than sorry. I know a lot of us have become
used to working with masks during the pandemic, but full-face respirators are
not generally a fun piece of equipment to wear all day. When we actually started
sampling, the respirators came out too. So out came the usual gear for a gas
site: hard hat, safety boots, safety glasses, coveralls made with DuPont™
Nomex®, gloves and the gas monitors. Still, regardless of the site, I’ve learned
to take safety seriously. There wasn’t much infrastructure left there. These
sites were in rural locations and, for a couple of them, the comments we
received were, “Oh, there’s nothing there, so you probably won’t have to do
anything with them.” Looking at the information provided, I could understand why
the client thought so. I recently had a client come to us for an assessment of
five gas sites before the infrastructure was removed and the sites were
decommissioned. Generally speaking, my job is not what most people think of when
they find out I’m an engineer. Although my job involves soil and groundwater a
majority of the time, I am also involved in radon and hazardous building
materials assessments. As an environmental engineer, my life deals with looking
for things that many clients hope I don’t find.

Here’s what you need to know about Chase Bishop:ġ. Denver Police said the victim
was shot in the leg and was in “good condition” and is recovering. The FBI has
not commented because of the ongoing investigation. “The incident is being
investigated by the Denver Police Homicide Unit and charges will be determined
by the Denver District Attorney’s Office,” the Denver Police Department said in
a statement.

He was questioned after the incident, but released to an FBI supervisor. Video
of Bishop’s dance moves and negligent discharge of his gun went viral on social
media this week after the early Saturday morning incident at the Mile High
Spirits Distillery and Tasting Bar in Denver, Colorado.

It was definitely the sort of grab-bag ubermod that you often find groups of
newbs making. To that end, he added in nation relations, plunder division with

modders joined forces to work on New Horizons, an unfathomably deep total
overhaul mod for Pirates of the Caribbean. It wasn't a great game on release,
and yet it garnered a following that saw potential in the unfinished sea
symphony. Aside from a few lines of narration from Keira Knightley and a
retrofitted plot involving the fabled Black Pearl ship, the ties to the movies
were tenuous, and development was rushed to sync up with the movie's release
date.

In 2003, Sea Dogs 2 was rebranded to Pirates of the Caribbean just before
release, when Disney licensed it as a movie tie-in. A couple that did venture
into these scarcely charted waters were the Sea Dogs and Age of Pirates series,
both made by Russian studio Akella.

Beyond Sid Meier's Pirates, there aren't that many games that have attempted
serious pirate simulation.

They released the Mark Isham Album for his instrumental work on this instant
cult classic movie (Blue Front Insert) that include 22 tracks.īut last night i
stumbled on something else from the SAME movie.

Any thoughts on the action in this one?Īside the Original Music from picture

I’ll also be watching the remake, which I’ve heard is horrendous and almost
certainly is, but I do wanna try and compare them. The Point Break remake
producers discuss the films international sports and new storyline. So yeah, I
loved this not just for the cheesy 90s fun I expected, but for the excellent and
intense action that I didn’t. A lot of these action scenes are pretty elaborate
and chaotic but she handles them well with long, steady takes and careful
decisions as to who should be the focus of the shot at any given time. I know
Keanu does almost all his own fights for John Wick, but I gotta look into how
much he and Swayze did themselves for this, because it looks like it was at
least a decent chunk of it.Īnd I think another big part of it is Kathryn Bigelow
actually did a great job directing this. Considering the number of mean and
snarky MCU characters in the Thor: Love and Thunder cast, the Point Break
reference from Thor: Ragnarok is likely to make a comeback in his fourth movie.
Stuff like Keanu tackling guys out of windows and onto gasoline fires, a
car-turned-foot chase, and even just the standard fight scenes were super cool.
And that’s definitely what is (with some pretty rough acting to boot).īut I
wasn’t prepared for how exciting and blood-pumping it was as an action film.
Knowing what I knew about the movie, I expected a very cheesy, dated, somewhat
Top Gun-esque experience. I know you want me so bad it's like acid in your

was something that I had missed up to this point, so I decided to check it out
