CIF ANNUAL CONFERENCE

CONSTRUCTING A COMPETITIVE ECONOMY

THURSDAY, 28TH SEPTEMBER

CROKE PARK, DUBLIN

The construction sector is an engine of the Irish economy. As one of the
country’s largest industries, it has a central role to play in Ireland’s biggest
challenges, such as housing our expanding population, delivering key
infrastructure, tackling climate change and supporting foreign direct
investment.

‘Constructing A Competitive Economy’ is the theme of the Construction Industry
Federation’s 2023 annual conference. The conference will bring together leading
experts from the industry to discuss how construction can support Ireland’s
economic growth and increasing population and build a prosperous, thriving
society.

Ireland is in a strong position economically. Despite global challenges, last
year Ireland’s economy was the fastest growing in Europe, with real GDP growth
of 12%. Our population is also growing and has increased to over 5million people
for the first time since the 1850s.

Our growing population and economy presents opportunities, but also challenges
for public and private bodies to keep pace. The construction sector’s ability to
construct at scale can power Ireland’s progress and prosperity. But we need a
clear pipeline of construction-ready work, and an environment that enables the
industry’s investment in its people, processes and technology. How can we lead
in developing these key enablers?

Join us on September 28th in Croke Park for ‘Constructing A Competitive Economy’
as we explore the industry’s role as a driving force of sustainable economic
success.

HOW WILL WE BUILD THE INFRASTRUCTURE WE NEED FOR A STRONG, GROWING ECONOMY?

The government’s NDP, published in 2021, sets out plans to spend €165bn on vital
infrastructure in health, education, transport and housing up to 2030. Recent
changes to spending rules could mean the accelerated delivery of many of these
projects. Our speakers explore the current state of infrastructure in Ireland,
where we are on delivery, capacity constraints in the industry and what the
Ireland of 2030 will look like after this investment.
