TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Essential information on the latest travel requirements to help you plan your
journey.

Our contact centre is very busy, so please only call us if your question is
urgent. If you have a query about travel rules which isn’t answered below,
you’ll find the latest information on the government websites. For all other
enquiries, you may find answers by visiting our online Help Centre.

CORONAVIRUS AND EUROSTAR SERVICES – LAST UPDATED 23 MAY 2022

You must follow all travel rules and complete any necessary mandatory
forms before travelling. Our teams will refuse travel if you don’t have the
correct forms complete and ready to be checked. As regulations can change at
short notice, please check the latest official government information of your
departure and destination countries before travelling and read the ‘Travel’
sections below. 

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that your reason for travel is permitted by the
country you are visiting, as the rules differ for each destination


TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS AND ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL TO FRANCE

IMPORTANT: Please check the travel rules in both your destination country and
the country you’re returning to – requirements do vary. 

1) I AM VACCINATED. WHAT COVID-19 TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO ME?

 * Mandatory proof of full vaccination

Present your certificate of full vaccination issued by the country where your
vaccination was administered. If you were vaccinated in the UK you can present
your NHS digital pass or paper certificate (or you can import your NHS QR code
into the TousAntiCovid app). Full details and exemptions. 

You’re considered fully vaccinated for travel purposes if you’re aged 18 and
over and:

 * you received a COVID-19 vaccine booster

Or:

 * you received the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna,
   AstraZeneca) at least a week ago, but no more than nine months ago.
 * you received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) at least 28 days ago,
   but no more than nine months ago.
 * you received the first dose of vaccination at least a week before travel AND
   you have previously had COVID-19 (at least 11 days ago and within the last 6
   months).


Important: If you had your full vaccine course 9 months ago or more AND you
haven’t had a COVID-19 vaccine booster, you must follow the rules for
unvaccinated passengers to enter France.

Rules for under 18s: If you’re aged under 18, there’s no requirement for a
booster and you’re regarded as fully vaccinated if you’ve received your full
vaccine course. If you’re aged 12 and under, there’s no requirement for a
vaccine. 

 * Quarantine Rules

No requirement to self-isolate on arrival.

2) I AM NOT VACCINATED. WHAT COVID-19 TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO
ME?

 * Negative COVID-19 test result or COVID-19 recovery certificate

Present one of the following three certificates to be checked before departure:

-        A negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure, OR
-        A negative antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before departure,
OR
-        A COVID-19 recovery certificate showing a positive PCR or antigen test
result no older than 6 months 

Important: NHS tests are not accepted. Your test certificate must be issued by a
private provider and contain the following information: your full name, your
date of birth or age, the sample date, the type of test, the test result, and
the provider's name and contact details. Full details and exemptions.

 * Quarantine Rules

No requirement to self-isolate on arrival.

3) I AM TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN

4) WHAT LOCAL RULES APPLY TO VISITORS TO FRANCE?

 * Visiting leisure, cultural and medical facilities

People aged 12 and over no longer need to have a pass vaccinal (vaccine pass) or
pass sanitaire (health pass) to visit cafés, bars, restaurants, shopping centres
or take part in leisure and cultural activities while in France.

A pass sanitaire (health pass) is still required to access hospitals and clinics
in France, except in the event of a medical emergency. Full details about the

TRAVEL TO THE UK

IMPORTANT: Please check the travel rules in both your destination country and
the country you’re returning to – requirements do vary. 

ALL PASSENGERS REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS

 * You're not required to take any COVID-19 tests, complete any forms or
   quarantine on arrival. This applies to ALL travellers, regardless of
   vaccination status. Full details on the UK government website.

TRAVEL TO BELGIUM

IMPORTANT: Please check the travel rules in both your destination country and
the country you’re returning to – requirements do vary. 

ALL PASSENGERS REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS

You're not required to take any COVID-19 tests, complete any forms or quarantine
on arrival, when travelling to Belgium. This applies to ALL travellers,
regardless of vaccination status. Full details on the Belgian government
website.

TRAVEL TO THE NETHERLANDS

IMPORTANT: Please check the travel rules in both your destination country and
the country you’re returning to – requirements do vary. 

1) I AM VACCINATED. WHAT COVID-19 TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO ME?

 * You're not required to take any COVID-19 tests to enter the Netherlands. Full
   details.
    
 * Mandatory proof of full vaccination (non-EU/non-Schengen residents only)

If you're not an EU or Schengen resident, you must present a certificate of full
vaccination. If you were vaccinated in the UK, you must present your NHS digital
pass or official paper certificate. Full details and exemptions

If you are aged 18 and over, you are considered fully vaccinated in the
Netherlands if:

 * you received a COVID-19 vaccine booster
    

Or: 

 * you received the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna,
   AstraZeneca) at least 14 days ago, but no more than 270 days ago. 
 * you received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson /Janssen) at least 28
   days ago, but no more than 270 days ago. 


Important: if you had the final dose of your primary vaccine course 270 days ago
or more AND you haven’t had a COVID-19 vaccine booster, you must follow the
rules for unvaccinated passengers to enter the Netherlands.

Rules for under 18s: If you’re aged under 18, there’s currently no requirement
for a booster. 

The vaccine you received must have been approved by the European Medicines
Agency (EMA) or be on the Emergency Use Listing of the World Health Organization
(WHO). Check the list of approved vaccines and their certificate requirements.

 * Quarantine Rules

No requirement to self-isolate on arrival.

2) I AM NOT VACCINATED. WHAT COVID-19 TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO
ME?

 * Essential reason for travel (non-EU/non-Schengen residents only)

If you're not an EU or Schengen resident, you can only travel to the Netherlands
if you can prove you have an essential reason, or the purpose of your trip falls
under one of the exemption categories. Non-essential travel is not allowed for
unvaccinated passengers. Full details and exemptions

 * You're not required to take any COVID-19 tests to enter the Netherlands. Full
   details.
    
 * Quarantine Rules

No requirement to self-isolate on arrival.

TRAVELLING THROUGH OTHER COUNTRIES TO YOUR DESTINATION

What travel rules apply to me if my train passes through other countries before
reaching my destination? 

 * If you’re travelling on a direct Eurostar train, you only need to meet the
   entry requirements of your Eurostar destination, and not those of any country
   the train passes through. 
 * If you’re only taking the Eurostar for part of your journey, you’ll need to
   meet the entry requirements of your Eurostar destination and check separately
   which rules apply for the rest of your journey.
