You need a balance of design and functionality for a garden to fulfil all your
needs. Our experienced and friendly approach will guide you through this
exciting and challenging process, whether you have a tiny courtyard or a rolling
landscape.

Our aim is to

create an outdoor living space with oodles of style that you can use

all year round...



what we do

our first meeting

We like to take a stroll around your garden, talk about what you want to achieve
and any ideas you have before we start any designs. We have to consider the
constraints of the site, size and outlook and the amount of time you have to
spend in it. This can be a few hours on-site advice, maybe a simple outline plan
or full planting and structural designs. An outline budget is worth discussing
at this stage.

We listen, consider your needs and ideas then create a space restful, elegant
unique, energetic that you can enjoy...

concept ideas

The concept stage of any design is the creative thinking time with lots of rough
ideas that we can chat about. And it is from these ideas that we can finalise
what you want and how we can make your garden work best for you.




planting plan

A detailed planting plan ensures you get the garden you want. It is an anchor
point for the rest of the work, essential reference for the landscaper, showing
plant and tree positioning and enabling you to visualise the scheme as a whole.
We supply a separate, concise plant list.




structural ideas

These show how paths, paved areas, steps, decking and structures like pergolas,
water features and sculpture will look in the final design. All structural
elements are shown on the planting plan.

I have been combining my passion for plants and design for twenty years or so.




Spending time in all sorts of areas, mostly private gardens but also involved in
creating landscapes and play areas for schools and innovative beds and borders
for companies.




What I love about gardens is their potential to change over time, never the same
from one year to the next; you are dealing not only with plants, but sculpture,
water, boundaries and less tangible elements like light and shade, with merging
and contrasting colours and shapes.




I live on the shores of the Waimea Estuary amongst flocks of wading birds with a
view of the Kahurangis.

What I love about gardens is their potential to change over time...

Consider also that you may want to implement the plan in stages and not all at
once, also you may wish to tackle parts of the job yourself. We can suggest
people to plant and construct any part, or all, of a design and we can oversee a
job if you would like us to.




Any structural suggestions needing resource or building consent will require
either architectural or engineer’s drawings.
