The Alabuga Start team is actively involved in helping new participants adapt.
In July, the project's HR specialists, along with students from Alabuga
Polytech, organized three conversation clubs for the newly arrived participants.

Conversation clubs are aimed at helping participants of Alabuga Start to adapt
faster and learn the Russian language. The themes of the July events included:
life in the city, favorite places to relax in Russia, parts of the body, and
traditional Russian dishes.

In addition, weekly lectures on corporate culture were conducted for
participants of Alabuga Start. The girls explored the company's values, engaged
in sports activities with programme participants from CIS countries and Russia,
and familiarized themselves with corporate business simulations.

In the first half of 2024, approximately 200 new participants joined the Alabuga
Special Economic Zone as part of the Alabuga Start programme. These young
females are currently undergoing an adaptation period, during which they are
learning Russian with the assistance of our instructors. They are also working
in their chosen fields under the guidance of experienced mentors and becoming
acquainted with the local culture.

“I chose to be a part of Alabuga Start programme because it offered me a new
life and a fresh environment to learn more about the culture here in Russia,”
shared Rorisang Kasaka from Botswana. “What I love about my neighbours is their
kindness and willingness to help. They assist me with many things, including my
Russian studies. I'm still getting used to the language and am in the process of
learning.”

The girls follow a 2/2 schedule: they work for 2 days in their chosen field,
studying work processes in practice, and for the next 2 days they learn Russian
with teachers.

“I like my team at work. My team at work are Russians,” said Elissa Maria from
Algeria. “I do good communication with them. We are helping each other. I am
good with them.”

Safety and security in Russia
21.06.2024
Safety and security in Russia
21.06.2024
Contrary to common misconceptions, Russia is surprisingly one of the safest
countries to live in. We will look at
the key factors that contribute to Russia's safety.

Low crime rate

According to Rosstat, the crime rate in Russia has been steadily decreasing in
recent years. Thus, the number of registered crimes per 100,000
population decreased from 1,800 in 2010 to about 1,500 in 2020.*

*This is one of the lowest rates among large developed countries.

A Robust law enforcement system ensures public safety in Russia

Russia boasts a comprehensive and well-organized system of law enforcement
agencies that effectively safeguard public safety. The police, Russian Guard,
and security agencies work in tandem to prevent and solve a wide range of
crimes.
Furthermore, the judicial system is strict in its enforcement of laws, ensuring
that violators are held accountable for their actions.

Low terrorist risk in Russia

Russia stands out from many Western countries in its relative immunity to major
terrorist attacks. This is attributed to the effective efforts of special
services and the coordinated actions of state bodies in combating terrorism.

High level of cybersecurity in Russia

Russian IT specialists and regulators place a strong emphasis on cybersecurity,
ensuring the protection of citizens, companies, and government systems from
hacker attacks and data breaches.

High level of social security in Russia

One of the key aspects of security in Russia is its comprehensive system of
social support for its citizens. The State ensures that its population has
access to essential services, including free medical care, affordable education,
and pensions, as well as other social benefits. This robust social safety net
allows individuals to feel secure and confident about their future.

Well developed security system in Russian cities

Russian cities are characterized by a high level of equipment with video
surveillance systems, lighting, and public order protection. This allows
authorities to ensure the safety of citizens and quickly respond to emerging
threats.

Why is it WORK visa, but not STUDY visa?

Right from the beginning, our programme mainly focuses on work and promotion on
the career ladder. This summer, our team decided to launch additional “study at
college” trial block for the programme. Unfortunately, colleges in Russia close
admissions in the autumn. That is why we do not provide studies now.

Will there be studies in the future?

We are not sure about it.

Today we will tell you about the important steps of preparation for your flight
to Russia

 * Print the tickets sent by your HR-specialist.
 * Print out the invitation to the programme.
 * Print out the admission letter from your HR.
 * Double-check your flight information several times.
 * Prepare the originals of your school certificate and transcript (+legalized
copies), medical documents, photos 35x45 mm (10 pieces) passport and put it
in your bag. You will have to provide those originals to the college upon
   arrival. Copies won’t be accepted!
 * Check the luggage and carryon (hand luggage) limitations on your flight
tickets. Make sure you do not have overweight and excess baggage. Otherwise
you will have to pay for it.
 * Make sure you do not have prohibited items in your hand luggage (check the
airline website to find the list).
 * It’s recommended to go or at least to call the airport in order to speak to
the immigration officer to clarify if your documents are sufficient to leave
the country. If necessary, get the contact details of the officer who has
confirmed that you have all the necessary documents.
 * Exchange your local currency for dollars in your city (country). In Russia it
won't be possible to exchange your local currency. Take as much as you can
for the initial time. It will take some time to get your first allowance.

FEEDBACK FROM OUR PARTICIPANTS

2022

My interest in this Program comes from the passion to be a great business lady
in future and an asset to Alabuga Special Economic Zone during my work.

I believe that future participants should use every opportunity to strive for
excellence. In addition to that, they should remember that opportunities come
along with experience.
Avon
Uganda
2022

I joined Alabuga Start to learn a new profession and develop my career. Here, we
are training with modern industrial equipment and gaining professional
experience.

I recommend everyone to come and join the program since people can get a
professional qualification for free.

Alabuga Start is a great opportunity to experience life in Russia and immerse in
Russian culture. I’ve made a lot of new acquaintances here, and it helps me to
adapt to the new culture and pace of life.

The Program taught me to be more hardworking and independent since I’m living on
my own. I am planning to enter the school and continue my education after the
Program.
Victoria
Nigeria
2022

The program gives me an opportunity to expand my professional competences. I
have the chance to practice what I learn and acquire extra knowledge about a lot
of things.

One of the challenges that I have encountered here was a language barrier, but
I’m working on overcoming it. I think that every participant should be
well-prepared for tackling challenges.
Miracle

2022

The program taught me to socialize with people of other ages and develop
critical thinking. After the program ends, I would
like to stay and explore more opportunities in Alabuga.

Redemptor

2024

The best part of «Alabuga start» program is the opportunity to constantly learn
how to be independent and grow.

In order to talk about the future in Russia, I set my own goals in this program.
Goals support permanent promotions so that I can reach my goal, which is to
advance through the ranks in the program and become a reliable person at work.
Since the program supports foreigners in all financial, cultural and material
aspects, I will be pleased to continue to improve and achieve success in this
program.

Work is an important part of the program, and I learned many things from it in
the following aspects: discipline, the responsibility and teamwork.

Following the rules and completing them correctly and the words of the group
leader is an important matter in the work and determines your path.
