ABOUT KAREN

Karen Morris-Clarke has been a Wellington resident for twenty-three years. Her
strong dedication to community outreach and activism is the foundation for her
optimistic outlook for Wellington’s future. This vision strongly emphasizes
preserving the fundamental characteristics that set Wellington apart as a model
hometown.

Throughout her time in Wellington, Ms. Morris-Clarke has seen the town change
from a sleepy little town to a bustling hub for the growth and development of
entrepreneurship, distinguished by its strong family values, equestrian
heritage, and aviation passions.

Her first interest in Wellington sprang from its appeal as the perfect place to
raise her family, support her business endeavors, and interact with various
community organizations.

OUR MISSION AND VISION


FIRST, KAREN’S AGENDA IS TO FOSTER CLEARER COMMUNICATION THAT TIES WITH THE
COUNCIL AND THE COMMUNITY.

Many citizens she met while canvassing are unaware of what is happening in the
Village, and disconnected from what goes on in council. Karen is determined to
show true leadership and continuous community engagement, setting her apart

GROWING SMALL BUSINESS / STABILIZING BIG BUSINESS

Workshops for small businesses to foment success and possible partnerships
and/or mentoring with successful businesses and larger businesses

SMALL BUSINESS

Help with the following workshop:

 * Taxes
 * SBA Loans
 * Encouraging constituents to shop locally—A Wellington-First approach with a
   list of services and providers in our Village

 

BIG BUSINESS

Help with the following workshop:

 * Creating flexibility for Big Businesses to invest in and stay in Wellington
   while still preserving Wellington’s timeless charm and commitment to the
   environment.
 * Encouraging the creation of indoor play spaces such as bowling alleys, and
   spaces like Boomers or Dave & Buster’s within the large footprint currently
   held by Wellington Green Mall
 * Developing a mixed-use space that rivals Rosemary Square

Following the untimely demise of her son Chris, 25, in an avoidable traffic
accident in 2016, Karen has committed herself to improving road safety and
enforcing traffic laws in the hamlet and its surrounding roads.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Promoting an inclusive and transparent communication culture ensures that all
Wellington residents—regardless of socioeconomic standing or residence—are
adequately heard and represented in community discussions and decision-making.

REVITALIZE WELLINGTON

Stimulate our local economy and transform the visual landscape of our village by
strategically investing in and rejuvenating existing properties.

SMALL BUSINESSES

Champion the growth of small businesses through the Wellington-First initiative,
focusing on uplifting and prioritizing our local entrepreneurs.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Sensible financial management through transparent and intelligent assessment and
administration of taxes and fees.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Safeguard Wellington’s Green Spaces and enhance the town’s modernity. Actively
work for well-lit streets, clear bicycle markers, and visible road reflectors to
ensure safety and cleanliness. Continue supporting the distinctive and renowned
equestrian and aviation communities to uphold Wellington’s charm and beauty.

COMMUNICATION

Promote the establishment and maintenance of transparent, continuous
communication channels between the Council and the residents of Wellington,
ensuring that information flows effectively and consistently to facilitate
better understanding and engagement within the community.

PRESERVE OUR COMMUNITY

Safeguard and highlight the distinctive small-town ambiance and family-oriented
appeal that characterizes the Village of Wellington, striving to preserve these
quintessential aspects while showcasing them as the community’s proud and
defining features.




THE ROAD AHEAD

As our nation emerges from a long period of isolation, sickness, loss, and
quarantine, Karen’s vision is to see Wellington build a stronger community with
fun social engagement activities. She looks forward to engaging with the
Wellington Village Council and other key stakeholders to create a modern society
that still treasures small-town values and models effective problem-solving in
all its neighborhoods.
