OUR STORY

In July 2022, Sara and Maxwell had their first date at the Kennedy Center in
Washington, D.C. where they saw "The Band’s Visit". They joke that the “show was
okay, but the company was great!” The musical now holds a special place in both
of their hearts, and Maxwell even listens to the songs on occasion. Since then,
they have seen over 17 shows together at the Kennedy Center, Shakespeare
Theater, National Theater, and Broadway.

A few months after dating, Maxwell moved to New York City for an exciting job
opportunity. “Long distance” was easy, and Maxwell and Sara continue to bounce
between New York and Washington with great frequency (and earning many Amtrak
points in the process). It took some time for Sara to grow accustomed to New
York, but she is now quite the Manhattanite (although she has yet to find a yoga
studio she likes).

Wherever they are, they enjoy trying out new tasting menus (Pineapple and
Pearl’s being their favorite), visiting art museums, strolling along the
National Mall or Central Park, and enjoying all the great things each city has
to offer with friends and family.

When they are not between cities, Sara and Maxwell have enjoyed many trips
together. Some of their favorites have been the Bahamas where they got to enjoy
the sun and beach with friends, and Orlando where Max’s company treated them to
a weekend at Universal Studios and Epcot and a concert from Coldplay and Carly
Rae Jepsen.

They also recently enjoyed a trip to Italy, where they explored Rome, Florence,
and the Amalfi Coast. During their trip, they were constantly mistaken for being
on their honeymoon. Sara’s favorite travel moment was when she convinced
Maxwell, who considers restaurants to be his kitchen, to attend a cooking class
where they made homemade pasta (see gallery for photos)! Maxwell’s favorite
travel moment was eating their weight in truffle pasta, charcuterie and cheese,
and gelato.

Shortly after Italy, the Kennedy Center played another pivotal moment in their
relationship. On their anniversary, Maxwell proposed to Sara on the Kennedy
Center rooftop terrance before seeing "1776". Wanting to preserve the special
moment forever, Maxwell hired photographers to capture the surprise moment,
which are showcased in the gallery. If asked if the show was good, they both
would agree it was great, but Sara admits the pretty new ring might have
distracted her slightly during the show.

Sara and Maxwell are excited to celebrate this exciting next chapter with family
and friends!
