THIS EMAIL WAS PART OF A PHISHING TEST RUN BY ECB DG/IS DIGITAL SECURITY SERVICES DIVISION What Is Phishing PHISHING IS AN ATTACK THAT AIMS AT COLLECTING SENSITIVE INFORMATION. It starts with a personalised email where the attacker is using social engineering, a technique attempting to fool you into taking an action. How Does It Work WITH AN EMAIL WHICH LOOKS LEGITIMATE. The email may contain a form, a link to a fake website or malicious attachment. With this email hackers want to collect your data, steal sensitive information or install a malware. This was an exercise and nothing happened on your device but be careful for the future emails. How To Protect BE SUSPICIOUS OF EMAILS THAT REQUIRE “IMMEDIATE ACTION”. Be aware of unexpected messages containing links asking you to click, or to offers sent via email or social media. Open only attachments you trust. Be aware of grammar or spelling mistakes. Never answer to requests for passwords or personal codes. Be suspicious of email coming from someone you know but not from the usual email address. Always Report YOU SHOULD REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS EMAILS. Use the “Suspicious Email button” in Outlook to report. Alternatively, you can also send suspicious emails to phishing@ecb.europa.eu as an attachment. For more information about phishing, check out on the intranet.
