FAQs on the new version of Lens Upstream
FAQs on the new version of Lens Upstream

Let's get familiar with the new and improved version of Lens Upstream

Written by Bernice Leslie
Updated this week

FOR MORE GENERAL HELP AND INFORMATION ON USING LENS, PLEASE SEE THESE FAQS.

FOR AN INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW VERSION OF LENS UPSTREAM, PLEASE SEE THIS
ARTICLE.

GENERAL

WHY ARE THERE TWO PLACES TO SEE UPSTREAM DATASETS?

Answer: We recognize that you may be in the middle of some crucial analysis and
we don't wish this transition to disrupt your process. Thus we will continue to
support the existing standard version of Lens Upstream for a limited time. Ahead
of switching off the standard version, we will notify you so you can start
working exclusively in the new version.

We welcome your feedback on the new version of Lens Upstream before we switch
off the standard version. Please get in touch through our Help Centre in Lens or
e-mail us at: support@woodmac.com.

THE SUMMARY DASHBOARD ON LENS UPSTREAM IN THE NEW VERSION APPEARS TO HAVE
CHANGED. WHERE ARE THE OTHER CHARTS AND DATA GRIDS?

Answer: The content you see in the Summary dashboard on the standard version is
all in the new Asset dashboard. Summary dashboard now features curated charts
that provide an overview of multiple sectors, particularly useful when you are
analyzing Upstream data alongside other sectors.

WILL PREVIOUSLY SHARED URLS FROM THE BROWSER FOR LENS UPSTREAM STILL WORK?

Answer: Yes, but only for a limited time until we switch off the Standard
version. To avoid any issues with sharing your views, we encourage you to share
exclusively from the Cross-Commodity version. Please take a look at our general
Lens FAQs on how to share properly.

SPACES

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS PREVIOUSLY SAVED VIEWS IN SPACES?

Answer: Yes, all previously saved and shared views will still be available via
the Spaces menu.

WHY DO I SEE [COPY] IN MY VIEW TITLES IN THE NEW VERSION?

Answer: You will only see this prefix if you have Upstream views saved at the
time we launch the new version. During the transition period, we will have both
the standard and new versions available. In order to migrate your existing views
so you can continue work on them in the new version, we made a copy that needs
to have a new name, so we’ve automatically added '[Copy]’. Please note that any
changes you make to the views in Standard version will not be carried over.

WHY DO I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I TRY TO RENAME MY VIEW IN THE NEW VERSION TO
THE TITLE I HAD IN STANDARD VERSION?

Answer: Once we have firmly migrated to the new version and switched off the
standard version, you will be able to remove the '[Copy]' prefix and rename your
saved views to their original titles. In the interim, you can remove the
‘[Copy]’ prefix if the new name of your view is different from the original
title in the standard version.

WILL CHANGES I MAKE IN MY EXISTING SPACES VIEWS OR NEW VIEWS CREATED IN THE
STANDARD VERSION BE REFLECTED IN THE NEW VERSION?

Answer: No. We will copy over your Spaces views as they are on the day the new
version launches. Henceforth any changes to existing saved views or any new
views created in the standard version will not be reflected in the new version.
We encourage you to continue working on your saved views in the new version of
Lens Upstream instead.

WHY DO I HAVE AN EMAIL STATING THAT A VIEW THAT I ALREADY HAVE ACCESS TO IN THE
STANDARD VERSION HAS BEEN SHARED AGAIN?

Answer: In this transition to the new version of Lens Upstream, we need to make
a copy of that shared view (like we do with your individual views), and then
share it to the relevant users. We follow the usual sharing process, which
includes sending an email to let you know that the copied view has now been
shared with you.

SOME OF MY SHARED SPACES VIEWS ARE MISSING IN THE NEW VERSION OF UPSTREAM –
WHERE HAVE THEY GONE?

Answer: Shared Spaces views will appear in the new version once the original
owner of that view logs into Lens again. In the meantime, you still have access
to those views in the standard version. We will not switch off the standard
version until all shared Spaces views are copied into the new version - we're
working on a solution for any shared views whose owners haven’t been able to log
in.
