ENGINEERING DISCOVERIES

There are many beautiful places on this earth that you should visit. Whether you
are a nature lover and enjoy outdoor activities, you prefer to indulge in
a museum, or you want to experience the special atmosphere in an unknown
country. But, with so many places to visit, where do you start? Where are the
most beautiful places in the world to visit? To make your vacation planning a
little easier, here are some of the most beautiful places in the world for you.

1- Dubai, United Arab Emirates

The city of Dubai may not be a natural wonder, but its grandeur is a sight to
behold. Dubai is known for housing the tallest building in the world and is home
to stunning beaches that draw visitors in droves. Dubai also boasts a diverse
culture (immigrants make up a high percentage of the population), providing a
unique atmosphere for this cosmopolitan city.

2- Paris, France

Paris is one of the most dreamy places on the planet not just for its
world-class cuisine and museums, but for its charm. Anyone who has ever visited
the City of Lights knows that there’s just something about it. Maybe it’s the
pastel-colored streets leading to Montemarte’s Sacré-Cœur or the Eiffel Tower
and Champ de Mars at sunset. Without a doubt, Paris has been and probably always
will be one of the most admired places on Earth.

3- The pyramids of Giza – Egypt

If there is a historic place in the world to visit, then it is Egypt! Such as
the unparalleled history of the pharaohs, the huge pyramids in the desert, and
the towering capital of Cairo. We recommend that you do not miss all this during
your holiday in Egypt. The famous Pyramids of Giza, which consist of a total of
6 pieces, are among the oldest buildings in the world. You will be enchanted!

4- Petra, Jordan

Petra’s beauty is so captivating that it was named one of the New Seven Wonders
of the World. Jordan’s spellbinding landscape is made up of ancient caves that
were carved into the mountains by the Nabataean Arabs. The stonework is so
intricate that facades resemble actual buildings, even though the realistic
architecture dates back to the first century A.D.

5- The Colosseum – Italy

You can visit countless attractions in the Italian capital, Rome, but do not
miss the opportunity to visit the unique Colosseum. The huge arena hosted the
gladiatorial battles of the ruling Emperor. An exciting experience!

6- Taj Mahal – India

The Taj Mahal is probably the most glamorous tomb in the world and the most
visited attraction in India. We also know why, because this place is more than
impressive! The symmetrical white marble building stands out from the azure blue
sky. If you are in India, a visit to the city of Agra is a must.

7- Positano, Italy

Positano, Italy, is commonly considered the jewel of the Amalfi Coast thanks to
its sky-high cliffs, charming streets, and spectacular beachfront. Travelers
flock here to enjoy the fresh local cuisine and explore the gorgeous coastline
either by boat, via car, or on foot along its many scenic hiking trails.

8-  Venice, Italy

Sleepy gondolas meandering their way through the shimmering turquoise waters of
the ancient Italian city’s 150 canals are just one of Venice’s gold stars. This
1200-year-old city is certainly the picture of beauty all around the globe for
its vibrant art and celebrated architecture. The lagoon culture, which provides
the town with specialty seafood, only adds to the city’s allure.

9- Cappadocia, Turkey

Cappadocia, an area in Turkey where entire cities have been carved into the
rock, is pretty incredible on its own. But whenever hot-air balloons pepper the
sky, its beauty level literally skyrockets.

10- The Maldives

Like one of Mother Nature’s emoticons, this lovable heart-shaped island can be
found in the Republic of the Maldives, a country that is spread out over 35,000
square miles in the Indian Ocean, 250 miles southwest of India. The nation
is comprised of 1,190 coral islands formed around 26 natural atolls, each of
which is made of a coral reef circling a lagoon. While the Maldives is one the
world’s most geographically dispersed countries, it is the smallest Asian
country in both land area and population; only 200 of those islands are
populated. Hello, deserted island paradise.

11- Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland

Nothing says charming mountain village like Lauterbrunnen. Quaint quiet and
quintessentially Swiss, Lauterbrunnen is one of the most picturesque places in
the world. Dotted with perfect chalet-style houses scattered over verdant green
fields, the entire area feels like something from the Sound of Music. Serene
village life isn’t all it has going for it either. The scenery is to die for and
even sports the nickname ‘Valley of 72 Waterfalls’ so no wonder it’s one of the
most beautiful places in Europe and the world.

12-  The Amazon rainforest – South America

Deep green and full of life: these are the key facts of the Amazon rainforest.
There is probably no other jungle in the world that is so impressive. For good
reason, the Amazon is also called “the green lung of the earth”. Wander through
the jungle to the most

13- Trolltunga, Norway

Soaring 700 meters above Lake Ringedalsvatnet is one of the world’s most scenic
and beautiful places in the world, Trolltunga. This stunning cliff ledge which
translates to “Troll Tounge” provides unbelievable views of the surrounding
lakes and fjords and creates an experience so humbling you’ll just have to
experience it for yourself. Gaze out at Ringedalsvatnet, splitting the fjords
into pieces or the snowcapped mountains off in the distance to learn the
definition of epic.

14- Hoover Dam, Nevada, USA

The Hoover Dam (originally known as the Boulder Dam), which holds back the
mighty Colorado River forming Lake Mead, is located on the Arizona-Nevada border
on Highway 93. It’s 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas.  It’s a popular tourist
destination whose Bureau of Reclamation tour alone draws nearly 1 million
visitors every year. The bureau has been leading visitors through the dam and
power plant since the ’30s. It is no less impressive today.

15- Grand Canyon, USA

The Grand Canyon is an overwhelming canyon 277 miles long, in some places no
less than 18 miles wide and almost 1.5 miles deep. You can discover the wonders
of nature in a variety of ways, including a boat ride across the Colorado River
and the surrounding area.

16- Niagara Falls, Canada

Niagara Falls are some of the largest, most beautiful, and most famous
waterfalls in the world. They are also some of the most easily accessible. You
can walk up and stand on the very edge of the falls, separated only by a
railing, without even having to pay a fee.

If you want to see them from a little different perspective, you can take a boat
trip to the base of the falls, or go behind the falls and see the water pouring
over from above.

The falls consist of three parts: The most spectacular section is the
concave Horseshoe Falls, running 640 meters across from the Canadian shore to
the American shore. The American Falls, about 330 meters across, is on the New
York side, but the best views are from the Canadian side. A small third section,
known as Bridal Veil Falls, is located between these two.

On the Canadian side of the falls, a walkway stretches from above the falls all
the way along the edge of the gorge, providing spectacular views. At night, the
falls are lit up in different colors.

The main viewing area is on the edge of Horseshoe Falls, behind which is
the Table Rock Welcome Centre. This building has a restaurant overlooking the
falls and is also where you’ll find shops and an information and ticket booth
where you can purchase tickets to the various attractions and tours.

Below the falls, the Niagara River flows through the deep walls of the gorge,
between 80 meters and 300 meters across, forming the Whirlpool Rapids as the
gorge narrows. The waters eventually flow into Lake Ontario.

17- Kalabaka, Greece

The country of Greece is home to Meteora, a charming and mysterious region where
monasteries seemingly float on air. In reality, several monasteries sit atop
vertical cliffs in this region, creating beautiful scenery for monastery
visitors and tourists down below. Check out Meteora for a journey back in time
through 2,000 years of Christian Orthodox history.

18- Northern lights, Norway

While it’s possible to witness the completely crazy phenomenon known as the
aurora borealis from any number of locations positioned far enough north, we’re
picking Norway as the bucket-list destination. Why? Because it’s Norway. There
are fjords, islands, glaciers, whales, moose, and polar bears!

But also because Norway just so happens to be a particularly wonderful spot to
see the magical light show that occurs when highly charged electrons from the
solar wind meet up with elements in the Earth’s atmosphere along the lines of
the magnetic force of the planet’s core (in a nutshell). From the land of the
Vikings, you can see some of the strangest and most splendid antics the sky has
to offer.

19- Palawan, Philippines

This immaculate string of islands is seen as some of the best in the world and
it’s pretty obvious why. Palawan is a fantastic triple threat of diverse
wildlife, pristine landscapes, and subterranean marvels. Because of its stretch
across the Sulu and South China seas, it boasts a huge variety of nature from
steep limestone cliffs to jawdropping coves and unbelievable beaches.

20- Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The largest living structure on the globe, the Great Barrier Reef is comprised
of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands; it stretches more than 1,400
miles long the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland, Australia. Within its
133,000 square miles, the array of life is almost hard to fathom. Amongst the
tangle of colorful reefs, more than 600 types of coral reside along with more
than 100 species of jellyfish, 1,625 types of fish, 133 varieties of sharks and
rays, and more than 30 species of whales and dolphins. That’s a lot of sea
creatures! It is one of the most complex ecosystems around; its diversity is
only matched by its physical beauty. Plus: heart-shaped reefs (swoon!).

21- Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, Peru

Machu Picchu is an extraordinary creation of giant walls and rock-based terraces
built in a tropical mountain forest on top of a mountain in the Andes. This
UNESCO World Heritage Site was once part of the Inca civilization but is now a
tourist destination for hikers, history lovers, and anyone who wants to be
inspired.

22- Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

The Marina Bay Sands is not just a hotel. In fact, the majestic location of the
whole place also houses various luxury shops, restaurants, museums, and the
iconic Sky Park. Sky Park is one of the must-see attractions in the area because
it offers you an amazing view of the Singapore skyline.

23- Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers, are twin
skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Council on Tall
Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH)’s official definition and ranking, they were
the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 when they were surpassed
by Taipei 101. The Petronas Towers remain the tallest twin towers in the world.
The buildings are a landmark of Kuala Lumpur, along with the nearby Kuala Lumpur
Tower; they remained the tallest buildings in Kuala Lumpur until 2020 when they
were surpassed by Merdeka PNB 118.

24- Rotterdam, Netherlands

Beautiful and amazing city, beloved by photographers and available to rent on
Airbnb, the Piet Blom-designed cube houses are reason enough to visit the
country’s second-largest city. But so are the restaurants, soaring Erasmus
Bridge, and LED-lit Market Hall.

25- Mount Fuji, Japan

Another famous site is Mount Fuji, which is famous for being the highest point
in Japan, and also for the beautiful five lakes. Most tourists go here during
cherry blossom or autumn season, but it’s a great destination in the summertime
as well.

26- Interlaken, Switzerland

Interlaken is one of Switzerland’s most popular summer holiday resorts. In the
center of town, Höhematte is a marvel of urban planning with 35 acres of open
space. Flower gardens, hotels, and cafés surround the Höheweg, the main
boulevard through here with breathtaking vistas of the mountains. The mighty
peaks of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau tower above the town provide excellent
opportunities for alpine adventures. Hiking, climbing, abseiling, and kayaking
is prime pursuits.

More than 45 mountain railways, cable cars, chairlifts, and ski lifts transport
visitors into the surrounding countryside and offer plenty of chances for
sightseeing from up above. In the winter, skiers and snowboarders can take their
pick from the surrounding resorts and cross-country ski along with the extensive
trail network. In the summer, paragliders launch from Beatenberg-Niederhorn. To
admire the scenery from lower elevations, hop aboard a paddle steamer for a
cruise around the lakes.

27- Cologne, Germany

It may have been nearly destroyed from heavy bombing during World War II, but
Cologne today is one of the largest cities in Germany and a major European
metropolis. Situated on the Rhine River in the German federal state of North
Rhine-Westphalia, Cologne offers several interesting tourist attractions,
buzzing nightlife, and a stellar arts and culture scene.

28- Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Canada’s most popular national park was also the very first national park in the
country. Banff is an iconic national park that is on almost every world
traveler’s bucket list — and for a good reason.

In the heart of the Rockies, the park’s rugged mountains are undoubtedly the
main attraction. There are plenty of ways to explore them, from a guided tour on
horseback to a summer hiking trip (there are over 1,600 kilometers of trails!)
to skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities. The bluer-than-blue waters
of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake also tend to draw the attention of park
visitors. Head to either lake early if you’re hoping to snap a pic with no one
else in the frame — but resist the urge to take a dip, as these glacier-fed
lakes are freezing cold! If you really want to take a swim, check out the Banff
Upper Hot Springs instead, also located in the park.

29- Stryn, Norway

Stryn is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in
the traditional district of Nordfjord. The administrative center of the
municipality is the village of Stryn. The municipality is located along the
innermost part of the Nordfjorden. Some of the main villages in Stryn

great place to drive for the day. Make sure to visit Kvernes Stave Church, too.
It’s around 600-years old and one of the oldest in the region. Make sure to keep
your eyes peeled for Storseisundet Bridge, too.

31- Golden Bridge, Vietnam

The structure was designed at 1,400 meters above sea level, on the hills of Ba
Na, and consists of a 150-meter pedestrian walkway. At first glance it seems
that these gigantic hands of stone, manage to dominate the landscape and at the
same time convey a sense of peace and protection, allowing visitors to be part
of nature.

A bridge located above da nang’s ba na hills, in Vietnam, has attracted a lot of
attention for its two giant hands which seemingly lift the structure into the
sky. standing on the golden bridge, visitors can admire the whole infinite

and TV shows have been filmed here over the years.

33- Istanbul, Turkey

ancient Rome, serving as capital first to Byzantine and then to the Ottoman
Empire.

ruins. The Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, and the mosques of Süleymaniye, and the
Blue Mosque dominate the skyline.

34- Fribourg, Switzerland
