Several supermarkets have launched their own ranges to crown King Charles'
Coronation next month.

Brits who are choosing to celebrate the royal occasion can get crown-shaped
snacks, collectable tins, and themed decorations to enjoy at street parties or
from their sofas. Reactions have been mixed, with some shoppers rushing to stock
up on the novelty treats while others have labelled them a complete waste of
money on social media.



One which has received a lot of mixed reviews online is the M&S Coronation
Collectables Tote Bag, which comprises of royal-themed treats and tins and
promises to provide a lasting souvenir of the historic event. Originally priced
at £30, it has already been reduced to £28 after some reviewers complained it
wasn't good value for money.

One of our colleagues at BirminghamLive decided to try the bundle to run the
rule over it. Reporter Emily Collis ordered the gift online for it to arrive the
following day.

She was impressed by the quality of the bag, saying that it was bigger than
expected and could definitely be reused. Inside, there were two tins; a purple
and gold one filled with 16 shortbread biscuits and a blue and gold one packed
with breakfast teabags.

The tins were described as 'stunning', with some possibly becoming a permanent
fixture in people's kitchens. The bag also held a 'King of Everything' chocolate
crowns and a huge milk chocolate coronation gold coin.

Shortbreads were decorated with royal patterns, though a few were broken.
Reviewer Emily found that they were buttery, crumbly and had extra sweetness
from the sugar on top.

However, the box of chocolate crowns was said to be disappointing - with only
five chocolates inside a box that was smaller than expected. The coin tasted a
little different to the usual creamy M&S chocolate, being more bitter, but the
reviewer enjoyed the novelty of eating such an enormous coin.

She concluded that everything in the Coronation Collectables Tote Bag looked and
tasted lovely and the tins are a great keepsake for the King's Coronation.
However, the reduced price of £28 felt a bit expensive for what was included,
especially with the rest bought separately adding up to £16.50.
