We also discussed maritime trade and the Mexican government’s efforts to crack
down on Mexican nationals who travel to U.S. waters in the Gulf of Mexico to
fish for red snapper. I advised the Secretary and his team of officials this was
an issue especially important to Alabama. https://t.co/QADPR2BcGE

It was good hearing about security cooperation efforts between the U.S. military

Productive day in Mexico City hearing directly from @SEMAR_mx and visiting their
central command center. We learned about the latest tactics being used by
cartels to avoid detection and prosecution while they traffic lethal drugs
through Mexican waters to the United States. https://t.co/VLCwULV8ox

We packed a lot in during 12 hours on the ground at the border in the San Diego
Sector yesterday.

We started the day meeting with Border Patrol Council leaders, who explained
that Border Patrol agents are demoralized because their time is consumed by
paperwork and being shuttle drivers instead of securing the border from
potential threats under this administration.

We then toured the San Ysidro Port of Entry, received briefings, and saw
demonstrations on the technologies and methods used by CBP to detect potential
threats. They routinely process 25-30,000 pedestrians and 60,000 vehicles per
day here.

We also met with law enforcement officers from the DEA, Homeland Security
Investigations, and we received in-field demonstrations by CBP’s Air and Marine
Operations.

Thank you to the incredible men and women across these law enforcement agencies
for your dedication and bravery. We’re grateful for your efforts to protect and
serve our nation.

The unprecedented humanitarian and national security crisis at the border must
end.

I’ll keep asking the tough questions that lead to constructive solutions.

It is crucial that we meet our obligations to the hardworking families and
retirees who have paid into Social Security and Medicare their entire careers.

Over half of all Alabamians who are eligible for Medicare choose Medicare
Advantage. I will continue to fight to ensure all Alabamians can live their
American Dream and thrive in safe, strong communities.
Britt joins letter in support of Medicare Advantage program
Enrollment in the program has doubled over the past decade, serving nearly 50
percent of individuals eligible for Medicare.

Today, we proudly celebrate National Freedom Day and the pursuit of realizing
our country's foundational ideals and commitments. On this day in American
history, President Abraham Lincoln signed what would become the 13th Amendment
to the Constitution, and Congress sent the Amendment that would abolish slavery
to the States to begin the ratification process.

The American people know that Washington’s out-of-control deficit spending has
fueled the inflation that continues to crush families, small businesses, and
retirees nationwide. It is past time to restore fiscal sanity in our country.

President Biden and Senator Schumer are being reckless by refusing to even
discuss a responsible path forward with Speaker McCarthy. This is not leadership
– it is an abdication of leadership. Our children and our children’s children
deserve better.
