AGFC CLARIFIES REGULATIONS

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission approved a dozen
clarifications to regulations passed during May’s Commission meeting. While most
changes were simple clarifications in wording, four changes may affect hunters
during upcoming deer and turkey seasons.




PARAGOULD MANUFACTURER SETTLES

Prysmian Cables and Systems USA LLC (Prysmian), located in Abbeville, South
Carolina, has agreed to pay $920,000 to settle allegations that it violated the
False Claims Act by knowingly falsifying test results and failing to conduct
required testing on military cable, known as M13486 cable, that was used in
vehicles manufactured for use by the military.


TRUMP WANTS US TO BE CRYPTO CAPITAL

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Former President Donald Trump on Saturday laid out his plans
to wholeheartedly embrace cryptocurrency if elected for a second term, telling
hundreds of cheering supporters of the digital tokens that he wants the U.S. to
be a "bitcoin superpower" under his leadership.

RAPE CHARGES DISMISSED IN PLEA

41 year-old George Gregory Lynn, of Harrison, pled no contest to ten counts of
class Y felony rape in a case opened in September 2021. This month — on July 19,
a plea agreement was filed in Boone County Circuit Court and the case was
closed. An order for criminal responsibility examination of Lynn was also filed
in the case on July 23. The exam request was filed by Lynn's attorney, Dan
Hancock.

JASPER BOARD ASSIGNS PERSONNEL

JASPER — The Jasper School District Board of Education met in regular session
Tuesday, July 23, rescheduled from July 15, and took action on several items in
preparation for the first day of school on Aug. 14. That included dealing with
school personnel assignments.

NEW INTERIM HEAD FOR CHAMBER

Wilson Marseilles, outgoing president and CEO of the Harrison Regional Chamber
of Commerce, shared this week that the Harrison Chamber Board of Directors has
selected an interim president for the Chamber.


COUNCIL CONDEMNS HOME

Harrison City Council met in regular session on Thursday, July 25. Among the
agenda items at the meeting was the condemnation request for a property located
at 801 North Chestnut. A hole in the roof  of the structure has been haphazardly
patched with a tarp, but this ineffective repair has led to the building
becoming more and more unstable over time.


CREEKSIDE OPENING DAY ANNOUNCED

On Thursday, Mayor Jerry Jackson announced the scheduled opening day for the new
Creekside Community Center at the regular meeting of city council. The mayor
announced that October 12 will be the big day, with plans being made for a
morning event. Further details about the big opening will be announced later.


MISSING MAN'S TRUCK FOUND IN NEWTON

JASPER — Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said that on Thursday, July 11,
Newton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an abandoned truck on a county
road off Highway 74 East between Jasper and Piercetown. A deputy responded to
the area and located the truck still on the county road, but pulled to one side
so traffic could squeeze by.


EARL SEEKS COUNCIL SPOT

Josh Earl has announced his candidacy for Alderman of Ward 1 on the Harrison
City Council in the upcoming November election. Earl is a native of Boone
County.


NARMC PRESIDENT SHARES UPDATES

The North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC) board of directors met on
Tuesday, July 23. President and CEO of the hospital, Sammie Cribbs, shared some
updates with the board.

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday August 3, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday
August 4, the State of Arkansas will hold its annual sales tax holiday allowing
shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain electronic devices, school

HPD OFFICERS ALERRT

The Harrison Police Department recently partnered with ALERRT (Advanced Law
Enforcement Rapid Response Training) and ten officers have graduated as ALERRT
Instructors under the ALERRT Train the Trainer program.



CAMP JACK HOSTS BINGO

The Jack Williams Veterans Resource Center, known also as "Camp Jack," has long
hosted a Bingo night each week. Currently, Camp Jack's facilities are seeing
renovations. While this work is underway, Bingo is played every Tuesday at the
Quality Inn Convention Center, next to Jamie's, on Hwy 65 in Harrison.

BUFFALO NATIONAL RIVER INTERMITTENTLY CLOSES STEEL CREEK ROAD

Buffalo National River will be installing a new water line to Steel Creek
starting on Monday, July 29. As a result, the only road accessing Steel Creek
will be shut down Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Access to
the river and campground will be available outside of the closure to include any
time on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

On Saturday, August 24, Zach Williams will headline the 50th Anniversary of
North Arkansas College banquet and concert presented by Explore Harrison. The
VIP banquet will feature stellar food, comments from Zach Williams, a 50th
celebration followed by a short trip to campus to enjoy the concert. Dress is
“concert casual”. Wear your shorts and shirts if you like.

"Cook of the Week" Brittney Reinhardt
The first thing Brittney Reinhardt learned to cook was eggs. "My mother taught
me when I was young so I could fix myself eggs every morning before school," she
shared. Reinhardt's first job, at Neighbors Mill as a baker, showed her how to
really follow a recipe. "Mike gave me the job opportunity to really learn how to
bake and be creative. Such a wonderful place to buy bread and sweets etc.," said
Reinhardt, expressing gratitude for the restaurant's owner, Mike Nabors.

DMJ TALK SCHOOL SAFETY, CELL PHONES

MT. JUDEA — The Deer/Mt. Judea School District Board of Education held its
regular meeting Monday, July 22, and quickly took care of some routine
preparations for the coming start of the new school year. First day of class is
Aug. 12. Most of the evening's conversation was on school security and the
impact social media has on students.
