SUBMIT YOUR FY2022 PURCHASE DATA

Before we dive into what and how it needs to be submitted, here's what CBRE and
you get for doing it.

We will process your purchase data to calculate your carbon footprint using our
state-of-the-art calculation engine, paid for by CBRE. For most companies, the
Scope 3 assessment this produces is far more granular and accurate than what
they currently have.

What CBRE gets is:

 * a breakdown of your emissions by industry, and
 * a breakdown of your emissions by scope and category,

which will make it easier for them to collaborate with you to reach net zero.

Your purchase data is never shared with CBRE, but you can easily request an NDA.

Performing this assessment will most likely reduce the uncertainty range of the
emission factor we calculate for your services. This will make you look like a
better partner to CBRE (and other customers you share your results with).


PREPARING YOUR FY22 PURCHASE DATA

What should be included?
Any payments made to a third party for the purpose of receiving a good or
service in return is considered an emissions generating activity. For example,
legal fees, audit fees, consulting, external quality assurance, scientific
services, IT services, and other professional services (not exhaustive).

What should be excluded?
Our calculation engine has been trained by expert carbon accountants to
automatically exclude non-relevant purchase data – it’s best to submit your data
as-is and let the calculation engine decide.

Requesting the data to your finance team
Your finance team usually has this information centralised into an accounting
system. You can ask them to export the list of account transactions or bills
using this email template. It describes the fields we require in more detail.

Required fields
`Purchase date`, `Spend value`, `Currency`, `Country of spend`, and `Spend
category`. Check the spreadsheet templates for more details.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What if data for the full year is not available?

While full-year data is preferable, partial data is acceptable. However, this
will result in a lower data quality score and higher emissions uncertainty.

Q: Should I include Value Added Tax (VAT) in the calculations, or should I
exclude it?

It's preferable to exclude VAT whenever feasible. VAT should be excluded from
your purchase data as it counts as taxation which is not included in your
company’s footprint.

Q: Is it possible to submit multiple times with the same link?

Certainly. If you find errors in your initial submission, you're able to
resubmit your data. The login link allows for unlimited submissions.
