HURRICANE MILTON: PASCO COUNTY UPDATES & INFORMATION

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - As Hurricane Milton works its way toward Florida, here's
what people in Pasco County need to know.





PASCO COUNTY UPDATE ON HURRICANE MILTON

Pasco County officials provided an update ahead of Hurricane Milton on Sunday
afternoon.


PASCO COUNTY EVACUATIONS:



Pasco County is under an order of local state emergency. Mandatory evacuations
for zones A and B and residents in mobile homes, low-lying areas and flood prone
areas go into effect on Monday at 10 a.m., according to officials. Residents in
Zone C, everyone registered with Pasco as a Special Needs Resident, and everyone
who would be vulnerable in the event of a power loss are under a voluntary
evacuation.


PASCO COUNTY SHELTERS:

The following shelters will open Monday, October 7, 2024, at noon:

 * Centennial Middle School, 38505 Centennial Road, Dade City
 * Fivay High School, 12115 Chicago Avenue, Hudson
 * Wesley Chapel High School, 30651 Wells Road, Wesley Chapel
 * River Ridge Middle and High Schools, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey
 * Fasano Regional Hurricane Center, 11611 Denton Avenue, Hudson (Special Needs
   Only)

All shelters are accepting family pets. GoPasco (Public Transportation) is
offering free rides to Pasco shelters until weather conditions deteriorate.


PASCO COUNTY CLOSINGS:

No closings have been announced.


PASCO COUNTY SANDBAGS:

Pasco County has several self-serve sandbag locations available, listed below.

Open 24/7 until further notice:

 * Magnolia Valley Golf Course: 7223 Massachusetts Avenue | New Port Richey
 * Pasco County Public Works (C-Barn): 30908 Warder Road | San Antonio

Open from sunrise to sunset until further notice:

 * Veterans Memorial Park: 14333 Hicks Road | Hudson
 * Pasco Fire Rescue Station #29: 6907 Dairy Rd | Zephyrhills

Dade City is also providing sand to city residents:

 * Former Dade City Police Department building: 38042 Pasco Avenue | Dade City


PASCO COUNTY SCHOOLS:

Pasco County Schools announced that all schools and district offices will be
closed on Monday through Friday.

All extracurricular activities, athletic events, and after-school programs are
also canceled for those days, according to county officials.

Pasco-Hernando State College operations will be remote on Monday, October 7. All
in-person classes will be held remotely. Students should contact instructors for
instructions. Employees will perform duties remotely under the direction of
their supervisors and all in-person student services are suspended. Virtual
student services will be available. 
PHSC will be closed on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9.
