We have looked at several hardware encrypted flash drives in the past. They

10-31-2020 | James Smythe, Mighty Gadget

Apricorn is one of the most reputable names in the secure storage business,
and their latest launch is the Aegis Secure Key 3NXC. It is essentially the
same as the existing Aegis Secure Key 3NX, but the USB-A port is now USB-C.
While other brands have shifted to app-controlled Bluetooth based drives,
this is a traditional keypad based drive. While more basic, it offers the
advantage of being completely software free. You manage everything via the

I work for a software company that is obsessed with security. The training

External hard drives are a great backup and portable storage solution, but if
they are used to store sensitive data, they can quickly become a huge

 * INSIDE ADRIAN KINGSLEY-HUGHES' OFFICE: THE SECRET LIVES OF GADGETS

09-29-2020 | Adrian Kingsley Hughes, ZDNet

A tour of some of the gear that Hardware 2.0's Adrian Kingsley-Hughes uses on
a daily basis to get his work done -- whether at the office, at home, or on
   the move.

The new Aegis Secure Key 3NXC builds on Apricorn's Secure Key 3z and Aegis
Secure Key 3NX, taking the same proven form-factor and physical keypad, and
adding something that users have been asking for: USB-C support.
When I started using Aegis keys with the built-in keypad I'd expected the
polymer-coated buttons to be the weak link, but they are exceedingly
wear-resistant and do not seem to wear out over time to reveal the most
commonly used buttons. I have similar drives that have been in regular usage
for over a year, and the keypad is still like new.

In the healthcare industry, expensive equipment is usually a point of pride,

2021 IT Security Survey Results: Kurt and Jon Cover Data Security Resilience in
the Hybrid Workforce
7/27/2021
Apricorn's Managing Directors of USA and EMEA, Kurt Markley and Jon Fielding,
dig deep into our annual security survey results via video conference from their
respective homes in San Diego California, and Manchester, England. Two data
security veterans--one American, one British-- give their unique perspectives
based on their geographical experiences, as well as their insights on the ever
changing complexion of corporate security policies in a work from anywhere
landscape. While the United States and the United Kingdom have faced the same
pandemic induced challenges of securing a remote workforce, their circumstances,
attitudes, and responses illustrate how the two regions differ, and how they are
similar. They further explore and explain the growing importance of a
multi-faceted approach to protecting against breach, and just as important, the
absolute necessity of a comprehensive plan for responding to attacks after it
happens.
Each year, Apricorn conducts a survey among more than 400 IT security
professionals in North America, Europe, and Latin America to gauge their
concerns, challenges, and predictions on matters relating to protecting their
companies' data security, and steps toward cyber resiliency.

The remake of the ultra compact, 256 bit AES XTS hardware-encrypted Padlock SSD
USB 3.2. It's still smaller than a deck of cards with its extruded aluminum
enclosure, membrane style keypad, and FIPS 140-2 level 2 validation. A lot has
changed since it was first introduced back in 2013. For starters, this new one
is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor, clocking in at up to 350 MB/s. And
it now comes in five capacities from 240GB up to 4GB. And while the speeds and
sizes have doubled and quadrupled, respectively, the cost of the Padlock SSD
from then to now has come down to be about 1/3 of what they were back then.
