SIGN UPS FOR 2024 are NOW OPEN! Register your company today and you will be
contacted after Jan. 26, 2024 with instructions on how to participate in the
official survey.

Mark your calendars: Our Best Places to Work awards ceremony is scheduled for
May 9, 2024 and will honor the top-ranking companies in each size category
(small, medium, large, XL).

There is a $250 entry fee to participate!  During the sign-up phase you will be
asked to complete the payment process as well as submit your nomination.  Please
make sure you complete the entire process in order to sign up and take our
survey.

Best Places to Work (BPTW) in Greater Washington honors the area's leading
employers. We are looking for companies and non-profits that go beyond the norm
to foster an enjoyable and meaningful work environment for their employees.  If
you win you'll be featured in The Washington Business Journal and the Book of
Lists in print and online. Winners will be recognized at the Best Places to Work
awards program. Companies on the BPTW list are known for recruiting and
retaining the best and brightest employees. Don't miss your chance to get on
this list.

Companies are judged based on the results of an employee survey administered by
Quantum Market Research. The survey evaluates:

 * Feeling valued
 * Work engagement
 * People practices
 * Communication and Resources

 * Trust in Leadershp

Best People + Best Place = Best Results. The Best Places to Work program
recognizes the importance of cultivating a great workplace culture as a
competitive advantage. Participation in our program is a no-brainer - Win or
lose, you’ll receive your engagement survey results, plus actionable ideas for
improvement.

The process 

Human resources managers or other company representatives should complete and
submit this nomination form. Only one submission per company will be accepted.
Please only submit one nomination per company and make sure that the contact
person is the appropriate party to disseminate the employee survey and manage
the process.

A company must have a minimum of 10 employees to qualify and employees must be
W2 employees.  Independent contractors (1099) or temporary employees do not
qualify. 
Companies will be ranked in small, medium, large and extra large categories.

Once the nominations have been submitted, each company will be asked to complete
and submit employee surveys to determine the final rankings. Information to fill
out the surveys will be sent by Quantum Workplace after Jan.26, to the survey
contact, to be distributed to employees. The employees who complete this survey
will ultimately determine the rankings of the best companies in each category.

The program

The Washington Business Journal will recognize the finalists and announce the
top companies at an awards event in May. The leading companies will also be
profiled in the Washington Business Journal.

Nominees for local categories must be based in D.C. or within one of the
following jurisdictions: Alexandria and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince
William counties in Virginia and Montgomery and Prince George's counties in
Maryland. Nominees in nonlocal categories must have major operations in one or
more of the above jurisdictions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many employees need to complete the surveys? In order for the results to be
statistically significant, a certain percentage of employees need to complete
the survey based upon the total number of local employees that are full-time and
part-time, permanent employees. You must invite all eligible employees to take
the survey. You will be notified as to your respective minimum completion rate
upon receiving information from Quantum Workplace. The breakdown is:

 * Less than 50 employees = 85%
 * 51-150 = 70%
 * 151 - 500 = 50%
 * 501 - 1,000 = 30%
 * 1,001-3,000 = 15%
 * 3,001 - 5,000 = 8%
 * More than 5,000 = 5%

What are the deadlines for the nominations and surveys? The deadline to nominate
your company to be surveyed is January 26, 2024. Once nominated, your employees
must complete the survey by Feb. 23.

How long are the surveys? The surveys take anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes,
but it does depend on the individual and his or her rate of response.

What are the benefits of participating? All companies receive an overview of
their survey results from Quantum Workplace, who administers the
survey.  Honored companies are granted permission to use the Best Places to Work
logo (for a fee) in its employment ads, letterhead, business cards, website,
etc., adding value to your reputation.  Honored companies are also feted at an
awards celebration in May and will be profiled in the Washington Business
Journal. 

What if my company does not fare well in the competition? Will any of that
information be published in the paper? We are looking for the best places to
work, NOT the worst. Names of companies that participate in the employee surveys
but are not selected as finalists will not be made public. All information is
kept strictly confidential.

Will the number of nominations a company receives affect its ranking? No. Please
only submit one nomination per company and make sure that the contact person is
the appropriate party to disseminate the employee survey and manage the process.
