Motional will use Ottopia’s Teleoperation platform to conduct remote vehicle assistance (RVA) when operating its fully driverless SAE Level 4 autonomous vehicles. Motional is a global leader in driverless technology and has driven many important firsts for the industry. It operates the world’s most established public robotaxi service, a fleet that has conducted over 100,000 public rides, and was one of the first companies in the world to operate fully teleoperation of autonomous vehicles on public roads. Ottopia’s Teleoperation platform has been evaluated by leading automotive players and was recently selected by the BMW Group as a preferred multi SIM teleoperation technology to support autonomous driving services. Over the course of several months, Ottopia’s solution had been put to the test on public roads while using public LTE networks on an autonomous BMW Group vehicle. The test included transferring 360 degrees High Definition video from a moving vehicle to a control center located at the BMW Group´s Autonomous Driving Campus in Unterschleißheim, and measuring multiple performance metrics such as delay and video quality. Magna has successfully developed and is piloting a novel “last mile” delivery solution for urban environments, powered by Ottopia's teleoperation software. These robots can travel at speeds of up to 20 mph on public streets. The project was launched with a pizza restaurant in the Detroit area in March 2022. Since then, it has delivered hundreds of pizzas to residential and commercial locations. The solution integrates a purpose-built, on-road, lightweight, electric robot; A Magna-developed low-speed autonomous driving system and Delivery software; and Ottopia's remote driving and assistance software. Deutsche Telekom and Ottopia partnered to commercialize Ottopia’s technology, making it available as a solution for demanding customers such as automotive OEMs, Tier1 suppliers and commercial fleet managers. Ottopia’s patent pending teleoperations technology uses Artificial Intelligence to predict the cellular network and enables resilient and ultra-low latency data transmission when streaming a 360 degrees video from a moving vehicle to a control center. Combined with advanced safety, Ottopia builds and provides algorithms to deal with situations such as sudden connectivity loss, or unexpected hazards on the road. The solution can be utilized immediately to address a multitude of customer use cases. Ottopia’s Teleoperation platform is being integrated so that when an EasyMile vehicle needs help it will be able to signal an operator in a remote location who can, using Ottopia’s proprietary remote driving solution, give it guidance or manually control it. This allows maximum vehicle uptime with minimal operations staff. EasyMile provides software and complete solutions for driverless mobility and goods transportation. It’s people mover, the EZ10, is the most-deployed driverless shuttle in the world. For material handling, it offers TractEasy, a tow-truck solution for cross/indoor-outdoor automation at factories and industrial sites. Ottopia leverages automotive grade LiDAR from Innoviz to power the detection systems for ATAS™ – Advanced Teleoperator Assistance Systems. As a result, operators receive Collision Warning alerts and, if necessary, the vehicle triggers Collision Avoidance and stop in its tracks. InnovizPro hardware can be retrofitted onto any vehicle in any fleet and Innoviz’s proprietary perception software gives an accurate picture of the environment in real time. Integrating that critical information into the ATAS suite of algorithms, teleoperated vehicles can now easily circumnavigate problematic obstacles and keep everyone safe. As an NVIDIA DRIVE® ecosystem partner, and NVIDIA Partner Network (NPN) preferred partner, Ottopia has optimized its safe and secure remote teleoperation software on the automotive-grade NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform, including NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Pegasus™. Ottopia is also compatible with all devices in the NVIDIA® Jetson™ family e.g. Jetson Nano™, Jetson™ TX2, Jetson Xavier™ NX and Jetson AGX Xavier™ series. Via and Ottopia offer a single solution that, when integrated with an Autonomous Vehicle (AV), enables the deployment of Level-4 transportation.
