The team sat down to brainstorm stretch goals that would both encourage continuing pledges but also make a significant impact on the visually impaired community. And with that, we give you two of our new stretch goals: - Stretch Goal 1 - $12,000 - 100 copies of Audio Game Hub will be sent for free to foundations around the world! As a pledger, you will have a say in which foundations will receive our games. - Stretch Goal 2 - $18,000 - The team will create 1 extra game out of the list of 12 possible games. This way, instead of voting for 5 games, you will be voting for your top 6 favorite games for us to create! WHY? Good question! “Nobody makes games for us.” were the words that launched this collaborative project, aimed at bringing the fun of video games to the nearly 300 million visually impaired around the world, as well as the many more who want to play by sound rather than sight. Put simply, most of the games made for the visually impaired currently in the market are much more simple than traditional video games and unfortunately, many audio games are not as developed in terms of depth, diversity, multiplayer functionality or good replay-ability. Clearly, there is a need and a responsibility to provide the visually impaired with richer gameplay than what is currently available. And this is where we come in to continue this good deed and expand on our original project. Here at Audio Game Hub, we believe games should be for everyone! We specialise in using sounds and music to create a world for our players to immerse in without any limitations. WHERE WE HAVE BEEN The original Audio Game Hub was released in April 2016, and it is an application that contains eight audio mini-games, designed for both non-sighted and sighted users. Multiple genres of casual video games were adapted into accessible audio equivalents, each designed with unique interaction patterns and gameplay mechanics. Click below to preview gameplay from the already created games: Since our original launch, the application has gathered over 30,000 downloads, excellent reviews, ratings and feedbacks and have even received awards from the Play by Play Festival and Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). WHERE WE ARE GOING We have gotten over a hundred requests to make more games and many of you suggested that we should go for a Kickstarter campaign and so, we are doing just that. We want to add another 5 brand new games to our hub on all 3 platforms: PC, Android and iOS. We have loads of ideas to narrow down from but why let us decide when we have awesome people like you who can have a say in it all? By pledging at any level, you will have the ability to vote for your 5 favorite games out of the ones listed below: * Frogger - Left? Clear. Right? Clear. Cross! Listen for oncoming vehicles, dodge traffic, and mind any obstacles in your way. * Cricket - There is no longer a need to wait for a sunny day to play a good game of cricket! Put yourself in the shoes of a proffesional cricket player and test your reactions and reflexes by batting using your device just as you would if you were on the field! * Boxing (Punch-out) - Get ready to take on the world! Fight it out with boxing champions from across the globe, here to challenge you for your title! * Bowling - Ten pins, one ball. A classic game of knocking things over. * Runner - Through rain and snow, run for as long as you can! Duck under or jump over obstacles as you make your way through the course! * Minesweeper - Clear and mark each section of a grid, until you’re sure you’ve taken care of all the mines… or have you? * Road Race - Put pedal to the metal as you race from coast to coast, making sure to pick up fuel and smooth over any mangled metal along the way. A racing game based on arcade classics. * Poker - Texas / Poker - Classic - Just like in the casinos! Play either classic or Texas Hold’em poker in single-player against multiple AI personalities. * Blackjack - 21 - The most widely played casino game in the world, blackjack is a race to reach 21, but don’t go over! * Eggs - So many chickens, so many eggs and only one basket. How many eggs will you let break? A remake of the classic portable 1986 'Nu Pogodi' arcade game. * Roulette - Place your bets and spin to win! A longtime classic from casinos all over the world. * Craps (Roll the Dice) - Kiss your dice for luck, then shoot some craps to see what you win! * Simon + Super Simon - A game in the style of Simon, where you have to remember an ever-growing sequence of commands. Too easy? Switch to Super-Sequence in which you have to juggle multiple sequences to advance through the levels! WHISPERING TUNNELS A Diablo like audio role playing game speacially tailored for the visually impaired! Packed with interactive non-linear plot, character development, NPCs, quests and complex dialogues, create your own story as you escape from the whispering tunnels and the devious traps, monstrous creatures and puzzles that it may hold. Find a variety of weapons, tools or magical items to use at your disposal, and picklock a door or simply attempt to break through it with your own strength; the choice is yours. You wake up. It is pitch black and nothing can be heard but the echo of gentle drops and what seems to be a whisper… Is it calling your name? Your lips are cracked and broken and your mouth dry as a desert. How long have you been asleep for? You feel the coarse ground beneath you as you attempt to stand on your feet and almost collapse from weakness. You need to get out of here. Now. During the development of Whispering Tunnels, the team has expanded the scope of the game to a size much much bigger than we had originally planned. So much even that we have decided to release it as a stand alone app! With all the new functionality, story and mechanics we have added, Whispering Tunnels could easily become one of the best Action, Hack and Slash, role playing games available for the visually impaired! Just think about the first time you played Diablo or a similar dungeon crawler game. We are bringing this level of quality to provide the best possible experience for our players. The team has been busy working on the engine of Whispering Tunnels and are around 70% through in a lot of the mechanics such as navigation, combat, inventory and map systems which means a working demo should be here sooner rather than later! Originally we had planned to give this game out as an exclusive for Kickstarter backers only. However, we started this project with the belief that games should be for everyone and so making our biggest game exclusive to only about 100 people is not staying true to who we are or what we want to do. This was not our goal and we are aware of our mistake. Because of that, we have changed our approach of exclusiveness in a way that will still reward Kickstarter pledgers/backers but also will allow people from all over the world to purchase and experience the Whispering Tunnels in the future. Help - verb - to make it easier or possible for someone to do something by offering them one's services or resources. That's right! Either pledge or spread the word about Audio Game Hub! Or even better, do both! We believe games should be for everyone and the more people we have alongside us, the faster we can move and the bigger the impact we can make. MILESTONES Our goal for this Kickstarter is $6,000 as this is the minimum we would need to cover the costs of voice actors, sound effects and music. After the Kickstarter campaign, the games would then be sold separately (except for the 'Whispering Tunnels' game) via in app purchases to the general public.
