Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag will be at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan has ordered the Maryland Flag
lowered to half-staff at sunrise, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 and returned to
full-staff at sunset, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 for International Overdose
Awareness Day. This day aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the
stigma of drug-related death in the continuing fight against the opioid epidemic
in Maryland.

President Joseph R. Biden ordered the United States Flag to be flown at
half-staff effective immediately and returned to full staff at midnight tomorrow
night, Thursday, August 4, 2022. This is to pay respect to United States
Representative Jackie Walorski from the State of Indiana. Representative
Walorski passed away today, August 3, 2022. As a matter of protocol, the
Maryland flag is lowered to half-staff. No flag may fly higher than the United
States flag.
