THE STEAM PROGRAM / MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT

The NYSWTHS is always looking for more people to get involved. We have an active
steam program which will teach you from the ground up what you need to know.
During the year we have classes on everything from railroad rules training to
locomotive maintenance.

THE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT

The operations department covers all personnel involved in the movement and
operation of trains. Our program , administered by our partners, The Black River
and Western Railroad is a fully qualified federally regulated program of
railroad operation.

The Maywood Station Museum has everything for the rail historian - from a
restored historic train station with numerous photographs, artifacts and
displays to historic equipment and operating model trains, there is plenty to
