Given its similarities to fellow hero shooter Overwatch, Marvel Rivals was
always going to have a competitive mode for players to test their limits and
earn a rank to show off.

MARVEL RIVALS COMPETITIVE RANKS, EXPLAINED

There are eight rank tiers in Marvel Rivals‘ Competitive mode, with most of them
consisting of multiple divisions. If you’ve played ranked games before, you
should be familiar with the idea and the names of the different ranks:

 * Bronze I, II, and III
 * Silver I, II, and III
 * Gold I, II, III, and IV
 * Platinum I, II, III, and IV
 * Diamond I, II, III, IV, and V
 * Grandmaster I, II, III, IV, and V
 * Eternity
 * One Above All

Eternity, and the game’s highest rank, One Above All are unique in that they do
not contain tiers. Instead, each player in those ranks will have a star ranking.
A player’s star count is updated based on its match results, and earning stars
is key to getting promoted. In Eternity and One Above All, players will have
their star counts reduced due to inactivity, resulting in demotion.



At the end of the season, players will earn rewards based on the highest rank
they achieve. During the season, players can also earn a Chrono Shield, which
can be used to negate the loss of stars in your next defeat.

Games in Competitive have multiple rounds, with the team that wins the most
rounds securing victory and valuable points, with promotion to higher Ranks
occurring after 100 points have been secured.

For those in Diamond III and above, each team gets to ban one hero before the
match starts. At the end of the season, rewards are given based on the highest
rank achieved, and the top 500 receive the “One Above All” Timestream Honor
reward.

Players can group together in competitive as long as there is no rank difference
greater than one tier. For the purposes of grouping, Bronze and Silver are
considered a one-tier difference, and players start at Bronze rank in season
zero.

The maps and modes are the same in Competitive as it is in Quick Match, except
Convoy maps require teams to switch sides so each team gets a chance to escort
the convoy. The team that gets the furthest or escorts the envoy to the end
fastest wins.



Rank points are rewarded for wins and deducted for losses, but you can prevent
rank loss in a losing effort if you are the team’s SVP (Second Valuable Player).
Other than that, winning is the name of the game, so make sure you know the best
heroes to use in Competitive.

Several rewards are available in Competitive mode in Marvel Rivals, which are
exclusive and cannot be purchased from the shop. Rewards are unlocked by Rank
and distributed at the conclusion of the season based on the highest Rank
achieved.
