WHAT IS SUBWAY SURFERS

You have been playing Subway Surfers for a while, and instantly you get curious
about the game and want to know who created this addictive game. If so, you will

Subway Surfers is a famous endless-running mobile game co-developed and
published by Kiloo and SYBO. The game uses the Unity engine and is available on
iOS, Android, Windows Phones, Harmony OS, and Kindle platforms. 

In the game, the player takes the role of a young artistic boy who, upon being
caught painting the meteor railway, runs to escape from the inspector and his
mad dog. The players run on the railway track and collect coins, power-ups,
keys, and other items along the way.

Meanwhile, the player running on the track dodges the coming train and jumps
through the other hurdles.

The game ends when the player hits some limitations or trains and catches the
inspector. In early 2020, Kiloo stopped developing and updating the game without
announcing any official reason. Now Sybo is updating the game.

GAME PLAY

Subway Surfers is a single-player mode running game. The game starts when
tapping the touch screen. You will see a game character Jake(Usually a starter
game character), painting graffiti on a subway platform. A checking inspector
with his dog sees him painting on the metro and starts chasing him.



Jake runs on a subway track to escape from the inspector; while running, the
player can swipe up, down, left, or right to avoid hitting the obstacles,
especially the poles, coming trains, barriers, and tunnel walls. The game ends
when the player crashes any hurdle on the way. However, players can revive and
continue running by using keys or watching the ads.

On the way, players can collect different items such as coins, super sneakers,
keys, score multipliers, magnets, jetpacks, power jumps, and mystery boxes.
These items give leverage during and after the game ends, like power jumpers
provide combustions, a jetpack provides the flying ability, a magnet attracts
coins on the way, and wearing super sneakers, you can jump high while scoring
multiplier multiples the score. The player can use a hoverboard on the track for
30 seconds.


DAILY CHALLENGES & SEASON HUNTS

The gameplay has daily challenges and season hunts give extra rewards for
completing these challenges. The daily difficulties challenge the player to
collect letters that ultimately make a word related to the game, such as ‘Score’
and ‘Jump.’ This challenge is also known as ‘Word Hunt. There are different
missions that you need to complete. The characters can unlock using keys,
in-game purchases, coins, collecting specific items, or connecting to the
Facebook account. You can unlock up to 18 characters this way. There are
commonly two outfits for the characters. Similarly, up to 17 hoverboards can be
unlocked following the same strategy. These boards have different benefits and
abilities which assist during the gameplay.

The main game items are power-ups, mainly used in the game. Each type of game
item provides a special ability to the character. The main game items are;

Subway Surfer were released on 24 May 2012. Since then, the developers have kept
updating the game, and updates are season based. Since January 2013, the game

In March 2018, Subway became the first game on Google Play Store to cross the 1
Billion download mark. In May 2018, the game doubled the download figure on the
app store and crossed the 2 Billion download threshold.

In December 2019, the game developer and publisher announced, according to App
Annie, the game has crossed 2.7 Billion downloads. Subway was the most
downloaded game of the decade from 2012 to 2019. Now the game has had more than
3 Billion downloads since its release. 

The game’s popularity is all over the world. Players from all over the world
take part in its events and play it daily.

The game is available in 16 languages, including English, Italian, German,
Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Turkish, Indonesian,

RECEPTION

The game received moderately good reviews. The critics admire the game’s visual
style and gameplay. But get criticized for a monotonous world and unresponsive
controls. Metacritic of Review Aggregate gave a 71 score out of 100 based on 8
reviews. 

Dan Griliopolous of Pocket Gamer scored 5 out of 10 and praised its gameplay and
free access to its items. However, criticize game controls and parsimonious game
design. 

Dant Rambo of Gamezebo gave the game a 3.5 score out of 5 and wrote a review, “
the game makes some effort to stand out from other endless running games and
appreciate the polish of the Subway Surfers. Also, call the game addictive, the
controls are responsive, and praise for not forcing the user to spend money on
game items.
