PURETECH TIMING BELT REPAIR KITS

Lack of maintenance can lead to engine damage. VAICO offers the right repair

A quiet, sudden clacking – and then the nightmare: fatal engine damage! The
PureTech engine comes from the French car manufacturer PSA. These engines have
been used in Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Opel models since 2014. PureTech engines
are characterised by high performance, low consumption and low emissions.
However, the timing belt running in oil has a downside: abrasion particles can
clog the oil channels and the timing belt can break. This causes costly damage
and leads to fatal engine damage. But don’t worry: VAICO has a practical
solution that saves time, nerves and money.


PURETECH ENGINE WEAK POINT

The 1.2 PureTech engine from Peugeot / Citroen is controlled by a timing belt
running in oil. Originally intended to be low-maintenance, it turns out that the
coating of the belt loosens well before the first replacement interval and the
belt swells. This can cause the timing belt to break, resulting in immediate and
serious engine damage.



A further risk is that the detached particles from the timing belt become lodged
in the screens of the oil pump and the vacuum pump. This leads to insufficient
lubrication in the oil pump. Over time, the oil pressure drops and the unit
slowly seizes up. There is a risk of engine damage! In the case of the vacuum
pump, this can have a negative effect on the braking force, which can lead to
serious problems, especially when idling or at low engine speeds.



In the event of particularly heavy wear, we recommend not only replacing the
timing belt, but also renewing the oil pump (VAICO oil pump, V42-1059) to ensure
that the insufficient lubrication has not caused any permanent damage. The
vacuum pump should also be checked in this case and replaced if necessary.
