About Leaps & Bounds Children’s Centres are child care programs licensed by the Ministry of Education under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and operated under the direction of Arnprior and District Child Care Services (ADCCS). ADCCS is a Non-Profit organization built with volunteer Board of Directors that spearheaded licensed care in the community in 1989. They first operated Rainbow Valley Child Care Centre and then Sunshine Preschool shortly after in 1990. About These centres were amalgamated into one in 2008, and relocated to a new, purpose built addition at AJ Charbonneau Public School, renamed Leaps & Bounds Children’s Centre. The centres names changed, but the root value of providing great care within our community didn’t. ADCCS has worked diligently to keep Leaps & Bounds synonymous with quality care and known for working together to meet the needs of children and families. With that in mind, the new Centre at AJ grew fast, and created a positive impact in the field of early childhood care in the area. About In 2015, ADCCS partnered with Renfrew County Catholic School Board to open another site, this time in Renfrew at St. Thomas Catholic School. In September 2017, ADCCS grew again, opening a before and after school program at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Arnprior. One small Board of Directors, with great ideas, strong thoughts on quality care, and big hearts ~ now oversees three programs, together licensed for over 300 children between Arnprior & Renfrew communities. Our Programs Toddler Programs We provide quality part time and full time care for children 18-30 months of age in our Toddler Programs. With a 1 to 5 teacher:child ratio, we aim to ensure our children are in an environment that is safe, comfortable and nourishing in order to provide the children with opportunities to make attachments with the staff and learn through play. Supporting not only the Ministry Guidelines including those of CCEYA and How Does Learning Happen (HDLH) the staff supports and guides the children’s experiences to make the most of their time together. Leaps & Bounds Arnprior (AJ site) and Renfrew have toddler programs. *We do not have infant programs, but we do have a limited number young toddler spaces (12 to 18 months) available. Toddler Preschool Kindergarten School Age Our Programs Preschool Programs We provide quality part time and full time care for children 30-60months of age in our Preschool Programs. Supporting not only the Ministry Guidelines including those of CCEYA and How Does Learning Happen (HDLH) the staff supports and guides the children’s experiences to make the most of their time together. Leaps & Bounds Arnprior (AJ site) and Renfrew have preschool programs. These preschool programs tend to be suited for children who have not yet entered Kindergarten. Toddler Preschool Kindergarten School Age With a 1 to 8 teacher:child ratio, we aim to ensure our children are in an environment that is safe, comfortable and nourishing in order to continue to provide the children with opportunities to learn through play; building on the connections made with the staff and families. Our Programs Kindergarten Programs We provide quality part time and full time care for children attending JK and SK (3.8-6 years of age). We provide both before and after school care as well as full day care when school is not in session. These programs are social in nature, but so much learning takes place when the children’s interests are used as the base of program activities. Supporting not only the Ministry Guidelines including those of CCEYA and How Does Learning Happen (HDLH) the staff supports and guides the children’s experiences to make the most of their time together. I would highly recommend Leaps and Bounds to any family looking for care of their children. The teachers and director look at each child as an individual, with their own strengths and needs. My family is forever thankful to Leaps & Bounds. Leaps and Bounds Children’s Centre has been my boys ‘home away from home’ since my oldest was 14 months old. I really couldn’t ask for better staff or better support for my boys! Each day at Leaps and Bounds, our children have been well taken care of. Leaps and Bounds has been part of our family for eight years. Our Activities Bus Exploration The Preschool group have always had an interest in school buses as they zoom by our location. As a September activity, the Educators support the children in this interest by asking our local bus company to come to our centre, to park, to chat, and to let the children explore the buses. Engaging Art The School Agers have shown an interest in creative activities with yarn. So much going on with this activity! Sharing skills, supporting each other and pure simple fun. The yarn interest has now grown to include rug hooking, and string / nail art. Puppet Pals The Kinders are very interested in puppetry at the moment. So we pulled out the paper, glue, plus oodles of other craft odds and ends to make our own popsicle stick puppets. So much story telling and fun in this simple activity!
