Inspired by the example set by St Mary MacKillop and Fr Julian Woods, St
Michael's Catholic School aims to foster a love of learning, allowing all
children to reach their full potential through a partnership of school, parents
and parish.

St Michael’s School is a Catholic Primary School situated in the small rural
township of Dunedoo. The School was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in
1921 and continues the Mission of Saint Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods
of educating rural children. St Michael's is very much a “family” school, small
enough to be familiar with each child’s needs and interests. It strives to
establish an environment, which fosters the development of the whole person thus
enabling children to witness and understand the richness and joy of a life,
lived in accordance with the teachings of Christ.

Class teachers, support teacher, teachers’ assistants, and progressive and
flexible Learning Support Programs, such as PreLit, MiniLit, MultiLit, MacqLit
for (Literacy) and Quicksmart for (Numeracy), cater for students’ individual
learning needs. At St Michael’s we expose the students to a wide range of
co-curricular activities, encouraging them to foster a love of learning, to
reach their full potential and become interested and productive member of our
society. These range from experiences such as, Speak Out, Moorambilla Choir,
School Musicals, Eisteddfods, to sporting triumphs at State level in swimming
and athletics as well as participation in Diocesan, Polding and State level
sport.

St Michael’s actively encourages parents, families and the wider community to be
involved in the education of our students. The students are involved within the
Dunedoo community participating in the Anzac Day March, Remembrance Day Service,
NAIDOC celebration, Harmony Day, visiting the elderly at Kahkama House and Art
For Youth Program. The school's attendance at and facilitation of different
events within the Dunedoo community is always appreciated.

Commitment to Child Safety

St Michael’s Catholic Primary School  is committed to a culture where children
are safe, supported and nurtured to grow and develop. The protection and
wellbeing of our students is based upon the belief that each person is made in
the image and likeness of God, and that the inherent dignity of all should be
recognised and fostered. In safeguarding our community we work to develop and
enhance the dignity of every member. This is particularly so for the most
vulnerable children, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children,
children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children
with a disability.
Creating child-safe school environments is a dynamic process that involves
active participation and responsibility by staff, parents and the whole
community. It is marked by collaboration, vigilance and proactive approaches
across policies, procedures, curriculum and practices.

Every person involved in education at St Michael’s Primary School has a
responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays
individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all
children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision
they make.
