Here you will enjoy classes with personalized attention from international teachers with an innovative methodology that centres on the students. You will have the best live swing music at parties and nonstop dancing (with no competitions). With good leader-follower balance to ensure maximum dancing opportunities for everyone. It's a popular destination for diverse events, ranging from captivating concerts and theatrical productions to energetic swing parties. The theater boasts a spacious dance floor, making it an ideal haven for Balboa enthusiasts. The wooden floor provides an excellent surface for dancers, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. Additionally, the high-quality sound system adds to the vibrant atmosphere, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening of Balboa dancing. Practical information PreviousNext CLASSES & TEACHERS We will have 4 hours of class, divided into two sessions, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. The groups will be divided by topics (musicality or tempos) and by languages (English and Spanish) and there will be no levels. During registration, you will need to choose the topic you want to work on (select one only) and the language. For example, "TEMPO TRACK BILINGUAL: Couple", "MUSICALITY TRACK ENGLISH: Leader", "TEMPO TRACK ENGLISH: Follower", etc. The two pairs of teachers will give classes on both topics and languages. Classes will only be translated for those who have chosen Spanish classes. The change of partner will be optional. TEMPO TRACK These classes will focus on improving your technique so you can comfortably dance to a wider range of tempos. MUSICALITY TRACK These classes will focus on different approaches to musicality in order to expand your repertoire of movements to the music. JACOB WIGGER & SHANI BROWN (USA) Jacob Wigger started swing dancing in 2003 and has been hooked ever since, with his first love being social dancing. As a teacher he uses a mix of humorous analogies and serious instruction to create a fun and exciting learning environment. Jacob has been teaching at various Balboa events around the world for the last 10 years and has enjoyed competing for even longer, having placed at and won several large competitions. He is well known for his Pure Balboa footwork and his ability to create a continuous flow for both himself and his partner. Shani hails from sunny Southern California. She is best known for her fast, syncopated Balboa footwork, tight swing style and her soft connection - which has been said to feel like a ‘warm hug’. As an instructor, she strives to make dancing simple and effortless with a strong emphasis on combining foundational basics with the soft skills of connection and personal body awareness to develop one's own smooth flow and style. Shani is honored to have honed her social dance skills and footwork under the guidance of legendary dancers Willie Desatoff, Hal and Marge Takier, Bart Bartolo, Jack Carey and many others. And although she has competed, placed at and won several major competitions, she mainly enjoys social dancing and inspiring others to love balboa and swing. GLORIA GRACIA (ESP)& GIO OLLA (SWE) Gloria has been teaching internationally since 2010, winning various European and US Balboa titles and contributing to the development of this dance in Barcelona and Spain. She is also a Dance Movement Therapist (DMT) specialized in movement analysis, which she uses in her revolutionary Balboa teaching methodology that she has been developing since 2015. She is mainly interested in offering classes that significantly improve the quality of students movement as well as their leader and follower partnership and own style development as leader, follower and couple. Gio started dancing at the age of 10 and has never stopped. He travelled from the very beginning for Boogie Woogie and later competitions, and later on discovered Balboa, which is now his great passion. He is currently based in Stockholm where he teaches regular classes and is part of the team organizing Sweden Balboa Weekend. Gio enjoys experimenting with new moves and stretching the limits of the dance. Many people remember him for his following skills. Gio still likes to compete and has won several international competitions. His goal is to let the students develop their own style and character in the dance.
