The private equity owners of IT services provider SolarWinds sold a $315m stake
in the firm shortly before the US government warned of a “nation-state” hack of
one of the software company’s products, according to a report in the Financial
Times.

The sale reduced the exposure of US private equity firms Silver Lake and Thoma
Bravo to SolarWinds before its share price fell after it emerged that one of its
products had been breached by hackers, suspected to be Russian.
