STATISTICS ON COMPLEMENTARY AND INTEGRATIVE HEALTH APPROACHES

NATIONAL HEALTH INTERVIEW SURVEY (CDC AND NCCIH)

The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) is an annual study, conducted by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health
Statistics (NCHS), in which tens of thousands of Americans are interviewed about
their health- and illness-related experiences. NCCIH has worked with the CDC to
include questions on complementary health approaches in this survey
periodically.

NATIONAL HEALTH AND NUTRITION EXAMINATION SURVEY (CDC)

National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), conducted by NCHS, is
a program of studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of
adults and children in the United States through interviews and physical
examinations. NHANES includes data on dietary supplement use.
