Welcome to our website, still a work in progress. For care leaflets, please

Here we are, 2022, and the world has not yet returned to normal. I imagine
everything has changed for most people, and we are now all adjusting to a new
life with things returning to normal so to speak. Billy seems a happy dog,
albeit with a few teeth missing. Allegedly lurchers are renowned for having bad
teeth. So we now play the daily TEETH game with a finger brush and some canine
toothpaste. Thanks to you, all our lovely customers, online sales have kept us
going, and we are still open by appointment only. However, we will be attending
more shows this year, and we will have more open weekends this year. Have a look

We are full up with polytunnels and greenhouses, and the plant collection is
growing (has grown) out of proportion, especially as we had our stock ready for
the show season. We are very lucky though, having the time to watch them grow.
Most of what is happening in the world passes us by, while we work on the
nursery, do water runs, pack boxes, and simply walk around our stunning plants.
We have completed the big clean and re-levelling of the 3 biggest (and oldest)
polytunnels. They are looking good.

We have also invested in a new watering system, which should be operational by
the end of March. Finally an end to the daily 4 hours watering with a can! Have
already started the annual plant maintenance, including cutting back old
pitchers and splitting/repotting

About us

We are a small, North-Yorkshire based, nursery, and we grow, display and sell
Carnivorous Plants at Shows and Fairs. We started as a backyard nursery in
Knaresborough, and moved to the beautiful village of Scampston in 2015 to enable
us to grow the nursery. When we started up, our shows were mainly in Yorkshire,
but we have now gone further afield. The 2018 season has been great for our
displays, taking part in several RHS Flower Shows as well as our local Harrogate
Flower Shows and the Great Yorkshire Show. We have achieved gold awards all
season and are particularly proud of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold medal at
our first attempt! To achieve what we said we wanted right from the start (Best
in Show at the Great Yorkshire Show) was also a great feeling. In 2019 we did it
all again, achieving another Chelsea gold, as well as a 2nd Best in Show at the
Great Yorkshire Show, and many other gold medals. 8 RHS gold medals so far …



Peter Walker (Wack) and his long suffering assistant (and wife) Helleentje, run
the business.Peter started many years ago with a love of plants in general, but
always with a special interest in unusual and/or exotic varieties. After
stumbling across a nursery selling pitcher plants (while on holiday in Whitby!),
we caught the carnivorous bug!

We sell our plants at shows and fairs – for specific shows and dates see ‘Shows
& Fairs’ -, and online. We are happy for people to visit the nursery, but
strictly by appointment only, please.

Other than plants we also sell photo’s, T-shirts, compost, pots and other
sundries, which are available in our online shop.
