COMMUNITY INFO SESSION:
PEN PARK'S HISTORIC CONNECTION TO COBHAM, KESWICK, AND CISMONT

The Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society (ACHS) has been partnering with
the City of Charlottesville to research, locate, and collaborate with the
descendants of enslaved individuals who were buried in 43 unmarked graves at the
Pen Park cemetery, with the goal of determining the most appropriate ways to
commemorate and memorialize this solemn ground.This outreach event is meant to
begin connecting the historical work conducted so far with the living descendant
community. We will begin with a presentation about Pen Park by the ACHS interns,
then move into a Q&A, and finally a general community discussion with the
opportunity for detailed genealogical questions to be answered. Project
participants present will include Lorenzo Dickerson, Sam Towler, Jeff Werner,
and others.
