She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe Join Discussion Share: Hopefully, the days of bathroom selfies and shirtless men holding fish will be long gone. Tinder has launched a new AI feature that will help users find love and better matches by selecting their best photos. It can be a struggle to find a half-decent photo of yourself for online dating sites, and many suggest a minimum upload of at least 4 to 6 photos. But how do you know which ones are going to be the most effective at attracting a potential partner? The Photo Selecter device is part of the Tinder mobile app. It works by going through the camera roll (if permission is granted) and selecting any photographs that it thinks might be good for your dating profile. However, first, you’ll need to upload a selfie so the app can use your biometric data to recognise you in your camera roll. Tinder says that the new feature selects the best photos based on different criteria, from good lighting and composition to filtering out group shots. You’ll get the final say as to which images get uploaded to your profile, Tinder says. Tinder CEO Faye Iosotaluno says the company hopes to help users spend more time making genuine connections and less time agonising over creating their profiles. “We’re proud to be the first dating app to roll out an AI tool that can make the profile-building experience significantly easier — an area we know is one of the hardest parts of dating. As the category leader, we’re pushing ourselves to define the industry’s best use cases for meaningful consumer AI integrations,” says Iosotaluno. It appears that people don’t automatically know (or care) what makes a good photograph. If you’re not completely comfortable with Tinder owning your biometric data (check the T&Cs before signing up), you could just resort to learning what makes a good photo the old-fashioned way. Just avoid holding a dead fish and you’re already ahead of 90% of the competition! Photo Selector will be available to users on iOS and Android in the United States starting this month and will be rolled out to other parts of the world later this summer.
