hi, i’m ivan.

i’ve been nerding out on new ai tools like chatgpt .

i love technology , but it had been a while since a product sparked wonder in me
before chatgpt. it was like when i first used paint on a windows '95’ computer ,
or the first time i got my hands on an iphone . i’d assumed that kind of
emotional reaction to a new technology was reserved for childhood until i felt
it again with large language models . a big part of my motivation for teaching
others is to spread this sense of amazement and possibility .



WHAT I OFFER

MY APPROACH


my approach to using and teaching ai is grounded in enjoyment and fun . there
are no shoulds; it’s all about exploration and play . i'll walk alongside you as
we discover how ai fits into your life. using ai, i've introspected into my
values, gained clarity on career decisions, and optimised countless mind-numbing
tasks. you’ll resonate with some of these uses more strongly than others and my
role is to help you discover how ai can best serve you in your work and life.



WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT AI


ai is an emergent technology without an instruction manual. to unlock its full
potential, we must approach it with a spirit of experimentation and play . by
tinkering, testing, and exploring, we can discover new use cases and push the
boundaries of what's possible with these incredible tools.

ai's user-friendliness lags behind its potential. these tools, in their infancy,
present a number of obstacles for those seeking to harness their power for
everyday tasks. so expect hurdles, but know they're predictable and surmountable
.

ai has limitations. understanding ai's inner workings, idiosyncrasies, and
limitations allows you to better steer your ai collaborator towards desired
outcomes .

working with ai is a skill to be honed. with practice and intentionality, you'll
learn to guide it to generate relevant, informative, and useful outputs .

ai's potential is unlocked through human guidance and effort. simply feeding
prompts into an ai system without careful thought will yield mediocre results at
best. by learning key principles for effective human-ai interaction and
consistently applying them, you can significantly elevate the quality and
usefulness of the outputs you receive. recognising that ai is a tool that
amplifies human effort and intelligence is key; the more you put in, the more
you'll get out .



MY BACKSTORY


i help run founders and coders, a coding bootcamp in london . in this role, i've
been exploring the potential of large language models to enhance learning .
through a series of hands-on experiments, i've not only discovered ways to level
up my own teaching skills but also uncovered strategies for empowering learners
to take control and accelerate their learning journeys .

before this, i ran a co-operative tech agency with a few friends from founders
and coders. i learnt that running your own business means juggling countless
tasks, and automating as many as possible can be a lifesaver . this lesson
carries over into my approach to ai, where i focus on using these tools to
eliminate repetitive, time-consuming tasks.

running a tech co-op also taught me the importance of rapidly acquiring new
skills. working as a developer often means picking up new technologies on the
fly . this experience instilled the value of being a quick learner, a meta-skill
that’s been invaluable in my career. by diving into ai, i've not only learned
about the technology itself but also honed my ability to rapidly acquire new
skills and knowledge. this is my favourite use of ai and something i’d love to
share widely .
