HOSPITAL PERFORMANCE REPORT 2021 DATA

This report evaluates hospital performance on 13 common medical conditions.
Released annually, results are reported for the general acute care hospitals in
Pennsylvania. The most recent edition also highlights statewide changes in
mortality and readmission rates.

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

This series of reports includes statewide data and facility-specific information
about the financial health of Pennsylvania’s general acute care and non-general
acute care hospitals, as well as ambulatory surgery centers.

Financial Analysis 2022 - Volume One - General Acute Care Hospitals

COMMON PROCEDURES REPORT

This report includes hospital-specific results for three commonly performed
procedures in Pennsylvania’s acute care hospitals: spinal fusion, total hip
replacement and total knee replacement. Risk-adjusted outcomes include
complications and extended postoperative length of stay. Statewide trends are
also examined.

CANCER SURGERY VOLUME

This report shows the number of surgeries performed in Pennsylvania hospitals
for 11 types of cancer—data that can help cancer patients and their families
make decisions about cancer surgical care in the Commonwealth.

PEDIATRIC AND CONGENITAL HEART SURGERY

This report provides volume and risk-adjusted operative mortality data on
pediatric and congenital heart surgeries performed in six children’s
hospitals—five in Pennsylvania and one in Delaware—that volunteered to have
their data publicly reported.

HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS FOR INFLUENZA AND ASSOCIATED COSTS

This financial brief examines hospitalizations for influenza among Pennsylvania
residents, with specific focus on older residents and children—two segments of
the population at high risk of developing influenza-related complications that
can result in hospitalization. County rates are included as are county-level
average and total payments for Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries.

BREAST CANCER SURGERY IN PENNSYLVANIA

This brief examines the 11,717 breast cancer surgeries performed in Pennsylvania
hospitals in 2017. Included are trends between 2008 and 2017, age and payer
breakdowns, and surgery rates by county.

ANNUAL REPORTS

This is a comprehensive report on the agency’s reporting and data activities
throughout the preceding year.
