I love using this app. It's really smooth and has all the features I need, I started using ente because I wanted something secure (and usually that means you get fewer features), but that's not the case. Customer service from Ente is nothing short of amazing. The team replies promptly and is always courteous. I had a small issue with the app and they pushed an update in under 10 hours. The issue was completely resolved. I’ve had subscriptions with all the major E2EE storage apps and they don’t come close in any aspect.

I am really positively surprised. The app works flawlessly and makes managing pictures and videos across multiple platforms (mobile, tablet, laptop, and web) very easy. In addition, all data is end to end encrypted, which was crucial for me to start using the app. The prices are really fair and there is a great team behind Ente that is incredibly open to feature suggestions. It's a pity that I didn't come across Ente earlier. In summary, Ente is a great alternative to the big cloud providers and is not lagging behind them. At the same time, Ente makes it possible to store data securely and privately, without the hassle that normally comes with it.

This is just fantastic. There are a few missing features and rough edges but the developers are very active and responsive, so they will get sorted soon. It works wonders. The developers are very quick to fix bugs when present and available in support. Photos are saved in maximum quality and synchronization is fast. The cost is really low (€10/year or €1/month for 10GB), and unlike Google Photo (free, meaning it makes money by selling our data), it is completely open-source, uses E2E encryption (while Google can easily see all the photos), and has a clear and clean privacy policy.

The best Google Photos alternative that I could find that actually respects your privacy. Absolutely love their product. While there are other privacy focused GP alternatives out there, Ente actually tries (and increasingly succeeds) to make something that is just as user friendly and feature packed.

FAQS

How does Ente ensure the security of my photos?

Ente is end-to-end encrypted. Our open-source apps have been externally audited
by expert cryptographers who have certified that your photos are only visible to
you. In addition to this, we store 3 copies of your data, in 3 different
locations – Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris. The data center in Paris is in a
fallout shelter 25m under the ground. The one in Frankfurt uses compliance locks
to stay immune to ransomware attacks. All of these systems are regularly
audited.

Can I transfer my photos from Google or Apple?

Yes! We have a simple migration process from both Google and Apple. Just takeout
your data, and drop it into our Desktop app and you are set!

Does Ente have an app for my device?

Ente has apps for Android, iOS, Web, Mac, Linux and Windows. All of these apps
are open-source, and automatically backup your photos in the background.
We also have a Command Line Interface for those who wish to run Ente on their
servers.

How can I share my photos with end-to-end encryption?

If your friend is on Ente, you can add them as a viewer or a collaborator to
your album using any of our apps. They can view your photos, and even add their
own photos to your albums, end-to-end encrypted.

If your friend is not on Ente, you can share a link to your album with them.
They can view your photos on a browser, without installing the app or needing an
account. You can also allow them to add photos via these links. Even these
uploads are end-to-end encrypted.

Can I share my subscription with family and friends?

You can add upto 5 family members and share your available storage space with
them at no extra cost. Each member will get their own private space, and can
only access their own photos.

We also have a Referral Program, where you can get 10 GB of free storage for
every paid customer you refer. You can share your referral code with your
friends, and they will receive an extra 10 GB as well.

What does "Ente" mean?

"Ente" (pronounced "entay") means "mine" in Malayalam. "Ente" also means a
"duck" in German. Hence the little Ducky - an evangelist of privacy, making it
easy to own our memories! 🐣
