DEFENCE TALENT ACQUISITION, TRAINING AND RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT IN JAPAN

JAPAN SEEKS YOUR HELP IN TALENT ACQUISITION, TRAINING AND RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

The Japan Ministry of Defense (Japan MOD) and the Acquisition, Technology, and
Logistics Agency (ATLA) are experiencing a growing demand for advanced
technologies, specialised training, and strategic partnerships from
international providers to support Japan MOD's ambitious training, recruitment,
and research & development projects.

If you're looking to showcase your expertise in advanced technologies,
specialised training, simulation systems or looking to help with Japan's leading
R&D projects then the Japan MOD wants to see you at DSEI Japan 2025.

JAPAN REQUIRES THE NEXT GENERATION OF TRAINING AND SIMULATION TALENT

As the research and development hub, ATLA plays a pivotal role in Japan MOD's
advancing its defence capability and bolstering its industrial base. Together,
ATLA and Japan MOD are investing in the next generation of training & simulation
and R&D talent acquisition to help with automation and autonomy to reduce
warfighter burden, novel platforms and energy sources, new functional materials,
faster and more accurate sensing, advanced computing, and enhanced cyber
defence.

These areas require skilled professionals, driving Japan's demand for experts in
these cutting-edge technologies. Enhanced training programs and specialised
education in these fields will be crucial. Additionally, collaborative R&D
initiatives will foster innovation and help develop the next generation of
defence technologies, ensuring Japan remains at the forefront of global defence
capabilities

Be a part of DSEI Japan 2025 and provide your expertise to help with automation,
advanced computing, cyber defence and any of the other critical areas Japan MOD
requires.

DISCOVER THE JAPAN'S NEEDS IN DEFENCE TRAINING, SIMULATION AND R&D

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AND DEVELOPMENT

Collaborate with Japanese defence firms and the Japan MOD to develop and
transfer advanced technologies such as cybersecurity solutions, unmanned
systems, AI, and electronic warfare, focusing on automation, advanced sensing,
and cyber defence.

Establish R&D partnerships for cutting-edge defence technologies through joint
ventures, exemplified by the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) involving Japan,
the UK, and Italy.

TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING

The Japan MOD requires specialised training programmes in advanced cyber
defence, electronic warfare, operational tactics, and equipment maintenance.

Additionally, the Japan MOD requires advanced simulation and training systems to
enhance operational readiness, highlighted by the Air Defence Command
Comprehensive Training exercises utilising extensive simulation systems.

DEFENCE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN SUPPORT

The Japan MOD requires assistance with integration into its defence supply
chain, ensuring high-quality components and timely delivery for operational
readiness, as seen in procurement programmes for F-35A/B fighters and Tomahawk
missiles.

Japan MOD requires maintenance, repair, and upgrade services for existing
equipment, including long-term support and technical expertise, as seen by
Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) contracts for maintaining ship gas turbine
engines.

HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

The Japan MOD requires public-private personnel exchange programmes to transfer
best practices and innovative approaches, leveraging external expertise to
enhance internal capabilities.

Partnerships with educational institutions are essential to develop future
defence engineers and technologists, particularly through cyber education
programmes that improve digital literacy and advanced cybersecurity skills among
SDF personnel.

JOINT EXERCISES AND OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

The Japan MOD needs participation in multinational exercises like "Keen Sword"
and "Keen Edge" with the US to enhance interoperability and joint operational
capabilities.

Additionally, providing operational expertise and advisory services is essential
for refining Japan's defence strategies and operational doctrines.

CYBERSECURITY AND INFORMATION SECURITY

The Japan MOD needs advanced cybersecurity solutions, including real-time threat
monitoring and response services.

Collaboration on information-sharing initiatives is crucial to enhance threat
intelligence and situational awareness, as demonstrated by strengthening
international partnerships through cyber dialogues and training exercises.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R&D)

The Japan MOD seeks collaboration on R&D initiatives for advanced defence
technologies like hypersonic weapons, high-energy lasers, and unmanned systems,
crucial for maintaining technological superiority.

Supporting Japan's efforts to enhance its technological base through joint
research projects and funding is vital, exemplified by investments in early
deployment of upgraded Type-12 surface-to-ship missiles and Hyper Velocity
Gliding Projectiles (HVGP).
