The Chainlink SmartCon 2024 Conference was an exciting time, as the development
team at Openmesh got to show off their decentralized cloud products. We had Web3
developers gathered around our Openmesh “Decentralization is Being Compromised”
Booth to participate in our Speed Hack hackathon. With several ~$3,500 USD worth
of DVM cloud credits up for grabs, talented developers showcased their skills by
submitting novel application templates through our Web3 Open R&D task bounty
platform.




SPEED HACK WINNERS AND THEIR HACKATHON SUBMISSIONS

Our “Speed Hack” hackathon yielded great results, with three standout developers
who transformed our Xnode NextJS Base Template into specialized templates that
will benefit the entire Openmesh ecosystem. Why is this special? It means that
anyone in the world can deploy an app or website with a couple of clicks in
minutes, on top of the decentralized immutable cloud, without KYC, and pay for
it with crypto!

The winning submissions were able to get a working demo running on top of the
Openmesh decentralized cloud within the second day of the SmartCon conference.

The successful developer submissions include:

 * Elbarroca — Notion Template — DVM Winner
 * Gabriel — Xnode Golang Template — DVM Winner

DEVELOPER SUBMISSION — ARTUROU — LINKTREE TEMPLATE

Arturou built a very useful Xnode NextJS Linktree Template that practically all
new startups use and many online brands need. His Linktree template can be
deployed from Xnode Studio using the Advanced Template Getting Started Guide.
Once you deploy the template, you can quickly edit the source code to achieve
your social media and website link aggregator and make it super easy for
followers and users to be aware of your online presence.

DEVELOPER SUBMISSION — ELBARROCA — NOTION TEMPLATE

Elbarroca shipped some winning code using the Xnode NextJS Notion Template,
bringing collaborative documentation to the Openmesh ecosystem. This template
reimagines team knowledge sharing with an intuitive interface and powerful
features. You can deploy this following our Advanced Xnode Template Getting
Started Guide.

DEVELOPER SUBMISSION — GABRIEL — XNODE GOLANG TEMPLATE

Instead of building a NextJS Template application, Gabriel thought outside the
box and built the beginnings of a new language framework for Xnode applications,
the Xnode Golang Template!

We have several high quality developers who didn’t make the SmartCon deadline in
submitting their work to the Open R&D Speed Hack submission portal. However,

NOTABLE MENTION — ARKGAST — CHAINLINK PRICE FEED DASHBOARD V2

Arkgast spent his afternoon building out an improved version of our Chainlink
Price Feed & CCIP app template adding dynamic graphs and sweeter UX.


NOTABLE MENTION — KENTY — NODE-AS-A-SERVICE TEMPLATES

Kenty is busy building out Node-as-a-service (NaaS) validator templates that
enable people to run their favorite Layer 1 & infrastructure nodes. He is also
working on benchmarking Xnode deployments and is looking into building a
hyperledger fabric NaaS template.


NOTABLE MENTION — JOSEPH — COMPUTATION WORK VIA BLOCKCHAIN DISTRIBUTED NODES

Deploying on the Openmesh decentralized cloud, this open source high-performance
computing (HPC) system uses blockchain technology and Chainlink oracles to
orchestrate distributed computation. The architecture combines Ethereum smart
contracts for job distribution, IPFS for storage, and specialized services for
execution and ML inference, enabling secure and verifiable processing of
resource-intensive tasks across a decentralized network.

WHAT DID OUR SPEED HACK CONTRIBUTORS WIN?

Our lucky winners took home a Decentralized Virtual Machine (DVM), an
NFT-controlled access mechanism to bare metal computing resources. It enables
access to 12 months of high performance cloud computing worth ~$3,500 USD.

OPENMESH DEVELOPER UPDATES



At the Chainlink Hacker House, we presented Xnode Studio v4, the Openmesh
dashboard that lets you deploy your favorite apps directly onto bare metal
service providers all around the world! There is no KYC, no credit cards, just
connect your Web3 wallet! It is fully open source and there is no middle man,
with some apps deployable in < 5 minutes! Read our Xnode Studio documentation
for more information.



For those lucky to win or earn a Xnode Decentralized Virtual Machine (DVM), we
walked through how to redeem the NFT and deploy various applications from our
App Store. The DVM’s rewarded to early adopters was worth ~$3500 USD as you get
a 12-month bare metal server to play with! We also deployed a Minecraft app
template to the applause of the crowd.




DEPLOY ANYTHING WITH XNODE!

Soon you will be able to deploy validators/RPC’s on Xnode to support your
favorite blockchain with our Node-as-a-Service templates. This expands our
service offerings, from not just deploying app templates but also deploying
node’s for Ethereum EVM-compatible blockchains & others.



It is now possible to not only deploy with your DVM cloud credits, you can now
create an account with Hivelocity and add your API key directly! This
achievement aligns to our path to a fully decentralized Openmesh Cloud. We are
not the middle man and you can deploy with supported cloud providers right now.



Each Xnode deployed contributes to the decentralization of our Openmesh Cloud.
The next phase of the Openmesh journey aggregates a percentage and unused
capacity of the deployed Xnode compute & storage to form the Openmesh Cloud!
