FORGET EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW ABOUT FOSTERING

Fostering reimagined. Helping you give children and young people a safe and
supportive home.

Could you foster?

WHETHER YOU'RE A BUSY BARRISTER, A MULTITASKING MANAGER, A RETIRED RADIOLOGIST
OR A SHAKY SKATEBOARDER

YOU'RE YOU + FOSTERING.

YOUR FOSTERING OPTIONS

There's lots of choice and flexibility in fostering.

EMERGENCY

Used at short notice and unplanned, for example if a lone parent is taken into
hospital or if the police need to remove a child if they're not safe at home.

This is very temporary, with the child usually staying for a night or two.

FAMILY BREAKS

Sometimes parents and children just need a break from each other. These short
breaks help families to relax and recharge.

This could be anything from a few hours, a weekend or a couple of weeks.

TEMPORARY

Provide a temporary home until a child can return home to their own family, or a
longer-term placement or adoption can be arranged.

This can be anything from an overnight stay to a period of several months.

LONG-TERM

Having children or young people as part of your family where they can feel
secure, often while maintaining contact with their birth family.

This is usually until the young person is ready to live independently.
