BIGFOOT REPORTS

Michigan Bigfoot Report and Data: Gumshoguy’s Corner

ROCKS TREE STUMPS

——————————
Sasquatch does to mark trails
Illustration: 1 Two men were found dead, their rifles twisted and distorted, and
with all their bones crushed and broken as smashed against ground. Former deputy
sheriff reported investigating an incident 95 years ago. He believed Sasquatch
mark their trails with rocks on stumps. One of things that stood out to him
beyond the carnage were rocks found on tree stumps.
————-
Note: I invited then removed a known member of the Bigfoot Community for his
pedantic trolling and open contempt toward me over this photo. Hie was adamantly
focused on a rock on a tree stump. Each time I would post his trolling would
began as though a switch were clicked on schedule. His unwavering contention was
that he “knew” loggers did that, and nothing was going to I could illustrate
would assuage his feelings or snap him out of his opinion. This is Michigan
Bigfoot Report and Data: Gumshoguy’s Corner.
This is a Bigfoot group site, not loggers’ site, we don’t get into tornados,
tree climbing elephants, zebras, coyotes, beavers or rabbits here. What this is
– is Bigfoot reports and data at its finest.

These photos are not the original phots but are illustrations examples’ for
learning aids only.

A DEER HUNTERS BIGFOOT ENCOUNTER

Over the years, I have taken in many reports of deer hunters encountering
Bigfoot. This could probably stem from the fact that both hunters, and bigfoot,
are stalking the same prey. This encounter occurred in Lenawee County, Michigan.
Lenawee County is in the southeaster part of Michigan.

Here is a report I recently got in from Craig.

– Start Report-

Name: Craig *****

Email Address: On file

State: MI

County: Lenawee

Date of Sighting: 2006

Time of Day:  before dark

Nearest Town: Tecumseh (Tom – Tecumseh is a small city in Lenawee County. It is
about 60 miles from Detroit and a 40 miles from Toledo, Ohio.)

Length of Sighting: Unsure

How many Witnesses: 1

Any Photos/Videos: No

Describe sighting in detail:
I was watching 3 deer at about 200 Yds away, while bow hunting. When I began to
hear a knocking sound coming from the woods very close to the deer.  The
knocking came closer and it was an unmistakable wood on wood sound that was
loud. At about 80 Yds away a branch was broken that immediately had me very
nervous as it was very loud.
The knocking kept coming closer with no other sounds and it was calm and quiet
that day.  It came all the way to within 35 yds or so and the knocking was all I
heard. If it came any closer it would have to show itself but never did.

After a few knocks at close range my mind was racing as I had never heard of
this behavior by anything and absolutely did not believe in Bigfoot, until that
day. I heard a slight rustling of the leaves as apparently it headed back into
the woods deeper but not without letting out a crazy scream/growl/yell that was
terrifying.
That was all I could take and jumped from my tree stand (about 10 ft) and
hustled to my truck without running, because I was thinking it might attack as
I’ve heard that you don’t run from a predator.  It took 2 hands to start my
truck since my hands were shaking so bad. This happened 3 miles from my house
and I do hear things occasionally but nothing like that day. I’ve never gone to
that spot again, and never will.

– End Report –

Thanks goes to Craig for sharing his encounter with all of us. Even though this
might have been a scary experience, it was also an eye opening one for Craig.
Most of us have been told, that Bigfoot is not real, but for those of us who
have seen and/or heard it, we have no doubts about bigfoot being real. Just be
careful when jumping out of a tree stand.

Thanks

BIGFOOT LORE BY VAL ZAVALA

Bigfoot and Owls
Legend, Lore or Something More
Quite a few Native American legends are consistent with data collected by
historians and researchers. I have not been able to confirm this but it is the
belief of many  that Owl – represents the Iroquois omen of death. If somebody
knows or more of cultural symbology please feel free to comment. If the Owl is
in fact the Native American Iroquois omen of death as some believe, is it mere
coincidence that Bigfoot, who we believe has watched and studied man for
hundreds of years, use the same the same call that so many hear? If there is any
credence to this then, is it possible this “Whooo, Whooo” owl mimicking foretell
a warning to any wayfaring strangers hiking, camping, hunting in the outdoors of
some impending danger?

BEAR ENCOUNTERS WITH SASQUATCH

Michigan Bigfoot Report and Data: Gumshoguy’s Corner

BEARS AND BIGFOOT
Are Bigfoot Killers of the bear?
I just remembered a case of a hunter finding a dead Grizzly with its jaw ripped
out, and in the report, he found this quite strange…. And his question was, what
could rip the lower jaw out of a Grizzly? It would be very hard for another
Grizzly bear to rip a jaw out with its own jaws and teeth, but would be a useful
technique for a Sasquatch to render a Grizzly as non-lethal. That according to a
Ray Crowe Western Bigfoot Society, October, 1998 Track Record# 82. The question
lingers but never answered until a published article printed a piece about a
video titled, “The Legends of Bigfoot,” documenting a decade of his 24-year
research. produced by Ivan Marx and It premiered in 1975. In it, the former
professional tracker, Alaskan game warden, hunter, Ivan Marx of Burney,
California claims Researcher reported Sasquatch winding up a Bear’s neck
apparently like a rubber band until it snapped at the third vertebra and despite
having Bigfoot hair in its mouth, skeptics discounted the bear kill as having
been caused by a wild mule.
Do wild mules kills bears? The answer is to that is: The best place to hide a
lie is between two truths. People are taken-in by the truths of the deception,
but damned by the lie they could not see. The beauty of the Truth is that there
can only be one.
Rewinding further into history again; here is a brief article recorded in a
British newspaper, The London Times dated January 4, 1784:
“There is lately arrived in France from North America, a wild man, who was
caught in the woods, 200 miles back from the Lake of The Woods, by a party of
Indians; they had seen him several times, but he was so swift of foot that they
could by no means catch up with him. He is near seven feet high, covered with
hair, but has little appearance of understanding and is remarkably sullen and
subdued. When he was taken, half a bear was found lying by him, whom he had just
killed.”
Still unconvinced?
Apparently this has been known for many hundreds of years. You or I wouldn’t
learn this because I am betting you and me were not wealthy enough or
priviledged enough to know this because only the world’s most wealthiest were
privy to such secrets.

Only the World’s wealthiest privy to knowledge 400 years ago
History tells us Bigfoot Sasquatches have been around a long time. How could
Bigfoot Sasquatches be mentioned in Queen Mary’s book of knowledge 460 years
ago? A book of knowledge was for the privileged, the very wealthiest, and the
peasants and serfs had to real-world realities then and now. Bears have reason
to fear Sasquatches. Bears usually scoot upon sight or scent of Bigfoots and
sometimes when they hear the vocalizations bears become nervous and agitated and
leave the area. For those of who said Bigfoot I would have to agree with you.
Bigfoot killers of the bear? Legends of the Sasquatch being a killer of bears,
is traceable as far back as 230 years ago and beyond perhaps at least 460 years.
That is not to say Sasquatches are not injured. Bears have been known to devour
consume infant Sasquatches when they happen upon them similar to bear cubs and
Sasquatches respond with all the wrath and fury of their sense of vengeance an
redemption and they hunt hunt kill and consume bears where they find them. I
will qualify this preface as first saying I am not a Bigfoot expert nor am I
Bigfoot researcher. I am a data miner of Bigfoot reports and have read and
studied or analyzed hundreds of them. There are reports of Bigfoot, Sasquatches
stalking and hunting bears. Hunters and professional tracking guides have
reported finding bear tracks overlaid with Bigfoot prints clearly illustrating
one predator stalking another predator. There have been photos of disastrous
after effects of this meeting of minds and there have been reports of bears
observed being chased through campsites by Sasquatches, bears chased through
woods by screaming Sasquatches in hot pursuit. Large grizzly bears rolled up
like a tortilla and hidden under brush. There have been reports of decapitated
bear carcasses that have also been found. There is a native Indian story of a
pair of hunters coming upon some horrendous screaming and growling and branch
breaking then quietly watch in horror as Sasquatch and bear fight to the death.

MICHIGAN BIGFOOT REPORT AND DATA

I am posting a face book page dedicated to my personal friend and fellow
researcher. His name is Val and  he posts daily reports of Bigfoot activity from
all over. He has had a Bigfoot sighting himself a few years back. And when I
interviewed him he had mentioned that this sighting was a ” Life changing
event”.  So let me introduce my friend.

My Introduction
Hello, my name is Val, and this my introduction: I am the Gumshoguy. I am not a
Bigfoot expert friends. I am a Bigfoot data-miner and researcher though. Some
people mine for gold and other precious metals. Me, I mine for information and
details. I am a data-miner.
I have one largest active Michigan Bigfoot databases in Michigan with over 1,560
reports from as early as 1700 to present. It is my hope and wish to preserve it
for the ages in a book in the near future. Let me start by saying thank you for
allowing me to join you in fellowship and your friendship. I treasure that more
than gold. I personally thank you for the invite. I am here to here to network,
share and exchange ideas and to simply offer my own encounter to share.
This is my Introduction you. First of all, thank you for joining us with your
friendship. I am not a Bigfoot expert friends, if you’re looking for expert
there are plenty Bigfoot experts just go ask them. Michigan Bigfoot Report and
Data: Gumshoguy’s Corner is a Bigfoot Sasquatch and cryptid FB group site. My
friend and partner to this group site is Dave Dominque. He comes with an
unmatched credentials and impressive background, but I’ll let him share that if
he wishes. Personally, I have as many have noticed this (my group site)is
primarily a Michigan dedicated group, but I like diversity and all are welcome
and invited from the Bigfoot community too. I retired in 2012 and brought my
skills and experience to bear from my professional career to this topic subject
with a new found passion.
My Personal Encounter
On a hot humid Michigan day, July 2014 I had my own encounter that shook me to
my core and seared itself into my memory forever. I am not a Bigfoot expert nor
am I a Bigfoot Researcher but I am a data miner. I am an eight-year retired law
enforcement officer and a formerly licensed private investigator. I worked with
federal, state, county and city agencies. I graduated Central Michigan
University in Michigan. I served honorably in the military and retired in good
standing. I don’t sell books, t-shirts, tickets or my grandmothers socks either.
I’m not here to pull anyone’s chain. Nobody has ever paid me a dime to speak
about Bigfoots. I do it because it is my passion. I go out on hikes with my
friends from across southeast Michigan who are Bigfoot researchers and enjoy the
camaraderie. Some people mine for gold and other precious metals. Me, I mine for
information and details. I am a data-miner. I have one largest active Michigan
Bigfoot databases in Michigan with over 1,560 reports from as early as 1700 to
present with over 116 datapoints. It is my hope and wish to preserve it for the

Bigfoot Culture and Belief of Sasquatch in the United States
The word ‘Sasquatch’ itself comes from the word “Sesquac”, which in the
Halkomelem language of the Coast Salish Indians means “wild man”. The Coast
Salish Indians originally lived in the Fraser Valley and other parts of the
American northwest, including parts of Canada.
However, the concept of an ape-like man is prevalent in Native American legends
across the entire North American Continent, and even in native populations
around the world.
In total, the Native American tribes of North America have more than sixty
different names for Sasquatch. The word ‘Bigfoot’ was coined in the late 1950s
by the media when a man discovered large footprints in the mud near Bluff Creek
in northern California. While the prints were disclosed to be a hoax in the
early 21st century, the term stuck, and gave rise to the modern belief,
interpretation and quest for Bigfoot.
Experts estimate that there are around 2,000-6,000 Bigfoots within the United
States and Canada (excluding Hawaii).
Note: For the record these are not my estimates..

WHEN BIGFOOT TAKES TO WATER

When Bigfoot Takes to the Water
Mysterious Universe, Nick Redfern, September 26, 2019
When the matter of Bigfoot surfaces, we almost always think of large, lumbering
creatures roaming deep in the heart of ancient forests. There are, however, a
number of cases on record in which the Bigfoot creatures have been seen swimming
in the waters of lakes and rivers. And, it seems, they may very well be quite
skilled swimmers, too. The North American Wood Ape Conservancy say: “Swimming
must be examined alongside the terrestrial gait of the wood ape since it appears
to be an important means of locomotion throughout the range of this species in
North America, especially on the west coast. Circumstantial evidence, such as
reports of the presence of wood apes on small islands off the coast of British
Columbia, has suggested they swim. Observations of wood apes actually swimming
have confirmed this.”
Lisa Shiel, who has had personal interactions with Bigfoot, has uncovered an
example of Bigfoot in the water from the 19th century. She outlines the story:
“In the 1830s, reports emerged from the area around Fish Lake, Indiana, of a
four-foot-tall ‘wild child’ loitering in the vicinity – and swimming in the
lake.” Shiel continues: “In another incident that took place in September 1967,
a fisherman casting his net on the delta of the Nooksack River in Washington
State felt something tug on his net. A moment later something began dragging his
net upstream. When he shined his flashlight at the thief, he saw a hairy hominid
in the river hauling in the net.”
Bears swim. Why not Bigfoot?
A third case comes from the people who run the website, Today in Bigfoot
History! They state: “William Drexler’s campsite overlooked Phantom Ship Island.
He had just finished his sausage and egg breakfast and was smoking his morning
pipe, just looking out over Crater Lake. That is when he noticed something
moving on Phantom Ship Island.” For those who may be wondering, Phantom Ship
Island is a small, craggy island on Crater Lake that takes its name from its
“ghost-ship”-like appearance, which is particularly noticeable when the mist
hovers low and thick. The story continues: “Drexler got out his binoculars. It
took him a minute or two before he was able to get a good bead on the moving
figure. What Drexler saw was a brownish grey Bigfoot, obviously soaking wet,
stretching out on some rocks near the water’s edge. The creature was luxuriated.
Drexler watched the creature for awhile lounge in the sun. Then after a bit the
Bigfoot climbed to the other side of the island and Drexler lost sight of it.”
One of the most fascinating examples originated near Ketchikan, Alaska, at some
point around the turn of the 1960s. It was a story provided to the investigator,
John Green. The story had a bit of a “friend of a friend” aspect to it, but that
makes it no less fascinating. It revolved around a young boy named Errol, who,
on one particular night, was out fishing with his father, when his flashlight
illuminated something terrifying standing in the water: a large, humanoid
creature, but one which was clearly not human, staring intently at him. Not
surprisingly, the boy screamed at the top of his lungs and fled for his life. A
posse of men came running, just in time to illuminate the dark waters with their
flashlights, and who saw to their astonishment the huge beast dive into the
water and start swimming “like a frog,” before vanishing from view, as it
plunged ever deeper into the depths. In moments, it was gone – demonstrating its
skills as a powerful, fast swimmer.
Can Bigfoot do the backstroke?
There have been sightings of swimming Bigfoot in Texas, too. Rob Riggs, who
deeply studied reports of the creatures in and around the Big Thicket are of the
Lone Star State, told of one particularly notable case of a watery Sasquatch:
“John’s family home is on the edge of the Trinity River swamps near Dayton. One
night he heard a disturbance on the porch where he kept a pen of rabbits. He
investigated just in time to see a large, dark form make off with rabbit in
hand. John impulsively followed in hot pursuit, staying close enough to hear the
rabbit squeal continuously.” John was able to close in on the creature, and to a
point where he witnessed something amazing occur, as Riggs reveals: “Standing on
the high bank in the moonlight he watched dumb-struck as what looked like a huge
ape-like animal swam to the other side of the river, easily negotiating the
strong current, and never letting go of the rabbit.”
In March 2007, the “Goldie E.” family told of swimming Bigfoot around Trinidad,
California. Rather bizarrely, the creatures were reportedly seen swimming
alongside sea-lions, as they negotiated the waters from Trinidad Head Rock to
Flat Iron Rock! The biting, cold waters apparently affected the Bigfoot not a
bit.

EARLY NATIVE AMERICAN LORE

This post was kindly sent into me by a gentleman named Thomas Phelps, who has a
back ground in history. I appreciate his contribution.

A book by Andrew Blackbird titled, History of the Ottawa and Chippewa Indians of
Michigan (first published in 1887, but available on Scribd), has a legend story
in Chapter 3 of the “earliest possible history” of Mackinaw Island and its
inhabitants. As the story goes, the Ottawa (Odawa) came upon the island already
occupied by a small band of Indians, who in turn consolidated with the Ottawa. A
subsequent fight with Seneca (Iroquois) left only two ‘Ottawa’ survivors, a man
and a woman, who escaped into the deepest wild and raised children, shunning
civilization. It is believed:

“That is, they can be seen and unseen just as they see fit to be; and sometimes
they simply manifest themselves as being present by throwing a club or a stone
at a person walking in solitude, or by striking a dog belonging to the person
walking; and sometimes by throwing a club at the lodge, night and day, or
hearing their footsteps walking around the wigwam when the Indians would be
camping out in an unsettled part of the country, and the dogs would bark, just
as they would at any strange person approaching the door. And sometimes they
would be tracked on snow by hunters, and if followed on their track, however
recently passed, they could never be overtaken. Sometimes when an Indian would
be hunting or walking in solitude, he would suddenly be seized with an unearthly
fright, terribly awe stricken, apprehending some great evil. He feels very
peculiar sensation from head to foot–the hair on his head stand and feeling like
stiff porcupine quill. He feels benumbed with fright, and yet does not know what
it is; and looking in every direction to see something, but nothing to be seen
which might cause sensation of terror.”

The Ottawa call it “Paw-gwa-tchaw-nish-nah-boy,” or “wild roaming supernatural
being.” This story caught my attention for the description contained within,
which happens to be very similar to reports of Sasquatch behaviors experienced
during encounters. I have never seen Blackbird’s accounting of Ottawa legend
mentioned as a possible historical Sasquatch tale, but I think by the
description it should be included.

BIGFOOT IN MICHIGAN’S HISTORY

Michigan has a long and rich history of Sasquatches. In fact, the earliest
mention of this strangely beast goes back to 1631 long before the French traders
would ply the land and missionaries navigated through the settled waters of the
Detroit River. Michigan became the 26th state when it gained its statehood more
than a dozen years after the War of 1612.

Missionaries, fur traders and British and American combatants both wrote about
encounters and sightings too. Nearly each since the state became settled there
had been singular reports of Sasquatches around the state and in each county.

Most years passed with ‘no’ reports, or a single or two reports in a single year
but all of that changed in 1950 when six separate reports and recorded. The
lowly precedent all changed in 1962 when twelve Bigfoot reports taken that year.
In the next three years, there would of sorts and 41 reports would and the
public would have their first real awareness of the strange and illusive animal
spotted around the region leaving the public and authorities to deal with the
mystery.

The next greatest leap in reported activity occurred in 1978 when there were 46
reports that year surpassing the previous four-year jump that 41 reports over a
four-year time period.

In 2006, 28 years later the number of reported Sasquatch (Bigfoot) nearly
doubled at 87.

Today there are 1,376 Michigan reports to date.

———————————————————————————————-

Other information gleaned from the data:

There were 92 reports of encounters close enough to detail eye color. The
overwhelming majority of colors mentioned were red, closely followed by yellow
eyes.

There were 28 instances of extraordinarily tall, “Extreme Height” Bigfoots 10
feet or taller.

The most active time period are the hours between 7:00PM and 12:00AM midnight.

In springtime May is the peak time of year. July is the most active month of the
year during summer months. During the “fall” season from the autumnal equinox
period forward November is most active and February is the busiest wintertime
month of the season in Michigan.

Of all four seasons the two most active are Summer and Fall, respectively.

To recap, the dawning age of Bigfoot’s march into Michigan’s long history began
during the early to mid-1960s and steadily grew and peaked in 2006.

BIGFOOT IN YOUR BACK YARD?

From Gum shoe guy:

Urban, Suburban and Rural Bigfoot

Think of it like wheel with and hub, and spokes that reach out in all directions
around the center of Detroit. There are roughly 4.75 – 5. 75 million in the
greater metropolitan Detroit area of southeast Michigan consisting of six
primary and four secondary counties making up a region referred to as southeast
Michigan according to (MSA) Michigan statistical areas studies.

Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, St. Clair and Lapeer

Washtenaw, Lenawee, Genesee and Monroe

Together in all, the ten immediate counties are identified as making up the most
populated Detroit metropolitan areas in southeast Michigan had 244 Bigfoot
sightings or encounters – is the same area where between 4.75 and 5. 75 million
people call home or half of the state’s 10 million people live. If Sasquatches
were not comfortable around people per se how does one explain that?

The obvious answer is that Bigfoot live and thrive on the peripherals or fringes
of human society and development and you don’t even know it.
