Day 1 Agenda

8:00am - 9:00am - Risky Business: Mitigating the Top Pest Risks to a Food
Processing Facility
Although over the years, the diversity of pests plaguing food plants has remain
fairly consistent, there is a surge in certain, new types.  In this session, we
will review the key pests and trends in changing pest populations.  Tips in
mitigating pests and the critical development of an IPM partnership will be
emphasized.

9:00am - 9:30am  - Refreshment Break & Exhibits

9:30am - 10:45am - Roles and Responsibilities: Panel Session with the Client,
Auditor & Pest Management Professional
In this session, a panel of experts representing the food industry, third party
auditors and the pest management industry will discuss challenges in the
development and implementation of a quality pest management program and the
methods of verifying program success. Each presenter will speak for
approximately 20 minutes and present the topic from their unique perspective.
After each presentation, time will be allotted for questions and answers from
the audience

10:45am - 11:15am  - Refreshment Break & Exhibits

11:15am - 12:00pm - Supplier Introductions
Vendors provide an overview of new product developments available

12:00pm - 1:00pm - Lunch Break & Exhibits

1:00pm - 2:00pm - Risk Assessments: A Critical Component for Every IPM Program
On a minimum of an annual basis, personnel with IPM training and knowledge look
at the data that has been recorded over the course of a year to ensure that the
program has adequately identified, addressed, and managed pest issues. Elements
include but are not limited to; evaluation of pest-sighting logs, pheromone
monitoring reports, pesticide application records, service reports, site maps
etc., to ensure that the program is functioning and accurate. Additionally, the
interior of the site and surrounding conditions will also be assessed. This
presentation will take the attendee on a deep dive into a risk assessment (also
called facility assessment).

2:00pm - 2:15pm - Refreshment Break & Exhibits

2:15pm - 3:15pm - Changing the Dynamic: Evolution from Trap Checking to a Risk
Based Program
Many of the pest management traps we use can serve a dual role in both control
and monitoring.  However, monitoring devices can sometimes be under-utilized
from the “next steps” perspective. One identity theft firm used to advertise,
what good does it do to monitor, if you take action. The same is true with pest
management.  In this session we will explore how to maximize the use of monitors
in their placement, interpretation, and pest management solutions.

3:15pm - 3:30pm - Refreshment Break & Exhibits

3:30pm - 4:30pm - Consider the Structure: It’s Not Just 4 Walls and a Roof
Prevention of pests is the goal. An understanding of the conditions that can
permit pest entry and the environmental factors favorable to the establishment
of breeding populations is critical. We need to examine what is really inside
the four walls in developing preventative strategies and solutions. Performing
an in-depth analysis of the site is required. In this session we will discuss
the methods used in the in-depth analysis tied to the biology and behavior of
common food facility pests.

Day 2 Agenda

8:00am - 9:00am - Food Safety Update: Where It’s At and Where It’s Headed
Food safety remains an ongoing challenge for the entire supply chain and a top
priority for consumers. The COVID 19 pandemic has forced many programs to evolve
to the next level and has placed huge burdens on personnel and programs. This
interactive session will provide the insight into the most current challenges
food safety professionals and the supply chain face. Critical topics like FDA’s
2020 top five violation categories of food recalls, the ongoing cybersecurity
ransomware threat, consumer advocate insight into food safety and the FDA’s New
Era of Smarter Food Safety proposed Section 204(d) of the FDA Food Safety
Modernization will be discussed.

9:00am - 9:30am - Refreshment Break & Exhibits

9:30am - 10:45am - Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Fumigants & Fumigant Alternatives
Fumigants and related pest management strategies play a key role in the
protection of our food supply. In this presentation, Ed will discuss the
following topics: Fumigant Use in the US, Hazards of Fumigants, Is fumigation
the right choice and preparing for a fumigation, Good Fumigation Practices &
Training, Alternative Fumigant Strategies, and What’s on the Horizon

10:45am - 11:00am - Refreshment Break & Exhibits

11:00am - 12:00pm - Data Trends: Understanding Pest Management Records and Data
for Root Cause Analysis
During this session, an in-depth overview of understanding pest control records
and their importance towards food safety will be discussed. A focus will be on
key areas included: Understanding your digital pest control records, what should
be included in your records, and using the data to drive decisions and point you
in the right direction for root cause analysis and problem resolution. After
reviewing all the essential record components, we will review a sample of
records to identify the root cause of a specific pest issue within an area of
the facility. At the end of the session, attendees will have a full
understanding of how to interpret their pest control records and use them in a
way to make strategic business decisions for their pest control program and
remain proactive vs. reactive to any issues that may arise.

12:00pm - 1:00pm - Lunch Break & Exhibits

1:00pm - 2:30pm - Research Update: New Advancements and Technologies
This session will explore some of advancements in emerging technology which are
providing pest solutions for a variety of common pests including rodents, flies
and stored product pests. The pros and cons of the devices and strategies will
be discussed as well as some of the future trends in technology being developed
in the fight against pests.
