top of page Skip to Main Content SLATE HILL OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST CHURCH MAKE AN IMPACT Welcome! Built in 1792, Slate Hill Old School Baptist Church is the oldest extant church in the area. It is also unique in that it never received modern upgrades like electricity or plumbing. The last major change to the building was in 1828 when the steeple tower was added! THE STEEPLE TOWER AS SEEN FROM US-6. A 1960'S PHOTO OF THE YEARLY OLD SCHOOL BAPTIST MEETING. Up until the 1930's, church members were buried in a small cemetery behind the church. Since then, local community members, descendants of the church's founders, and local organizations have recognized the church's historic value and helped care for this building and site.
