Who we are

Who we are

The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation is the community legacy of the
former Troy Savings Bank.

Although The Troy Savings Bank was acquired by another financial institution in
2004, the Foundation continues the Bank's proud charitable giving tradition.
Today, the Foundation invests in community solutions in the eight counties of
upstate New York where the Bank previously had branch offices. The Foundation
works in partnership with nonprofit organizations, other private funders, and
government entities. Together with these partners, the Foundation works to find
solutions for challenging problems within its funding priority areas.

How we serve our community

How we serve our community

The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation focuses its grant making in three
priority areas: Community Development, Youth Development, and Arts & Culture.
These priority areas reflect the Foundation's commitment to building stronger
communities, offering young people opportunities to develop new skills, and
presenting enriching arts & culture experiences for local residents.

Of special interest to the Foundation are programs that serve those who are
homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In addition, the Foundation supports
many youth development organizations that offer enriching activities for at-risk
youth during non-school hours, including many after school and summer camp
programs. The Foundation also provides significant support to the world-renowned
Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, ensuring that this acoustic and architectural
treasure is maintained and preserved for community benefit.

FUNDING HELPS TRANSFORM TROY ALLEYWAY

The City of Troy has remarkable alleyways that can tell historical stories
beyond their functional use as passageways for commerce. The Arts Center of the
Capital Region (ACCR) worked in partnership with the City of Troy to transform a

The project required the cooperation of the property owners along the alley
(who had to find new locations for their garbage dumpsters), the City of Troy
(who repaved the alley), and National Grid (who installed new and attractive
lighting). The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation joined with other local
private funders [...]

NEW STEM-FOCUSED PLAYGROUND IN RENSSELAER ENCOURAGES CREATIVE PLAY

The Covid-19 pandemic has helped all of us understand the importance of being
outdoors. This is especially true for our children, who crave the chance to run,
climb, and explore in the fresh air during all seasons of the year. The
Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) Family Resource Center in the City of
Rensselaer understood how important outdoor play was for the children in its
child care and Head Start programs. The Center’s playground was dilapidated and
in need of updating, and they approached several local funders for help in
reimagining it. Funding from the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation along
